Swapper for life!
I've finally decided to get some decent pictures of my car up on the forums, and I'm kind of excited to hear your guys' responses.

This is my 92 Civic LX. The car has a small history behind it (that I know of at least). The car spent it's first 14 years in Atlanta, rust free. For my graduation in 06, my aunt gave me the car. She knew I was getting into cars and that civics were great platforms (wonderful smart aunt, huh?). So we went down, visited, and drove it back up to OH. With 270k on it, the only issues it has are the power locks don't work, and it had trouble with the A/C, although it would work sometimes flawlessly.

I'll spare you the dirty details, but what ended up happening was the crank pulley actually sheared off of the crank at the bolt (if I can find it, I'll get a pic). I had it welded back on and a new bolt threaded on, but it only lasted a few weeks. So, I needed to put a new crank in, and figured the motor was due for a rebuild anyway. The rebuild went fine, but I'm pretty sure the cheap egay headgasket I put on it was shit. I had problem after problem with the idle, running, smoking, etc... I didn't wanna fuck with it anymore. My mother at this point was helping me pay for parts, and was tired of it, so she agreed to buy me a newer car if I sold the Civic. That was the beginning of summer 07. Sold it for 1200.

Needless to say, after a year of driving by my car multiple times a week and seeing it being molested at first, then NEVER driven, I decided to buy it back. The kid put neons underneath that were 100% visible from any angle (the tubes i mean). That and there was a weed growing around one of the wheels, and it hadn't been washed once. To add to the torture, someone hit the back left corner and he just left it... go figure.

Well, I went to his place during the summer, asked if he'd sell it back to me, and he sold it back for 1k. I bought it with the intention of immediately throwing a B18B1 in that I had picked up when I bought an 89 si. Took me 4 weeks of waiting for parts, but I finally got it all back together, and it's running like a champ.

Enough for the history, Here are the pics.

evidently the kid thought primer on the front right looked good. I have since wetsanded the primer off, and found that there's actually only a small spot (that you can kinda see through the primer) that was actually effected.

there's the dent on the back, fixed by me, horribly I might add. Oh well, soon the car will at least all be one color.

I know, the seats aren't the same color. I helped an upholstery guy out this summer that owes me, I think I'm going to get them redone with a carbon fiber style vinyl fabric and have it double stitched with red stitching.

That's the heart. Mounts are innovative, except the driver. still waiting on the correct driver from innovative.

here was my project today

that's after wetsanding and buffing compound. I was thoroughly amazed that the 17 year old paint could still look this good!

So there are the pics. It's not the cleanest car, but it's a work in progress for me. It's also nice now because I am living in a condo next to campus with a garage and driveway. Supposedly I'm not supposed to do any vehicle maintenance on the property....... hahahaha. yeah right. It's funny though, because while we had our carpets cleaned today we had to put a sofa on the front porch to get it out of the way, and I got a violation notice, but I haven't the last month for working on my car...... dumb shits.

Let me know what you guys think, and I'll update with my latest projects on the car, big or small.

If you have any ideas for me along the way, feel free to speak up.

thanks for looking.

most condo's have that policy. less for them to clean up if you spill fluids all over the driveway and such.

My landlord said he replaced a radiator in his truck when he was here, so I'm not too worried about it.

all the patches are painted now, although I'm very disappointed because the duplicolor paint was a shade to light, and it's clearly different. I tried to feather a couple of the patches, but It's still clearly different. It's not perfect, but it's better than primer, and it'll work fine until I get the car repainted whenever that happens. Forgot to take pics though, so I might get some tomorrow.

Should be getting my Beltronics STi tomorrow. We'll take it out for a test ride soon!

Seeing as how I'm dirt poor, I think my next project will just be getting the interior rediculously clean, and I'm going to continue trying to paint the interior black.

Not bad. It's a start. I'd recommend getting some gsr blades or ls webs for it. Ever thought of just doing an interior swap?

Motor looks nice

All it needs is some TLC to the paint, some blades or webs, and a little bit of a drop and you'll have a sexy car.

EDIT: I'd also get rid of that sticker on the side of the car. Maybe get rid of the wing too, but then you have to deal with the issue of the holes in the trunk.

I'm guessing your concern is theft? I know the wheels are flashy, but I like them. I might just keep them to put stickies on for next season. I've got a friend who's got some stealies he'll GIVE me.

By interior swap, do you mean swap out with a different car like a teg? Or do you just mean find a 4 door with a black interior? I don't think I've ever seen one, but I'll look harder.

Thanks on the motor. I tried to keep it nice. I still need to put a teg radiator in, just waiting for the funds. I'm gonna use some future on the towers and the exposed paint too to shine it up a little.

I would get rid of any sticker/theft magnet. The only reason I keep the Colletti sticker is because they'll give me a discount. I'm definitely keeping the wing though. I think it looks silly without it.

I do want to drop it a little, but I don't want to buy new springs just to swap out the suspension later on with coilovers. I'd rather just wait and do the coilovers first time around. I also have NO idea what coilovers would be a good balance for a 4 door, and I'm just kinda slowly getting input. so if you have any input, let me know!

Nah I wasn't concerned about theft, I just think they look kinda cheesy. If you like em' though keep em'.

Yea I had meant swap to a different color from the same model. I'm guessing there had to have been at least one four door model that had a black interior but I don't know for sure.

Have you seen the suspension setup I went with for my car? I'd highly recommend PIC coilovers. Buy PIC Apex - Honda they make a great product and they have superb customer service and respond to emails very quickly.

thx, I'll definitely take a look. I don't want to show up to mid ohio next season with a stock setup............ no fun. I do think I'll take your advice on the wheels. I can get some coin from them. I already know a kid who wants them. I'll just go with stealies for now. I think they kinda look cheesey because the tires aren't thick enough though. I got them from TireRack.com and didn't realize they were sized to be the same as stock.

What are you doing in Ohio? I can suggest some other suspension components that'll make your car handle like a go kart like mine :D If you keep an eye on Craigslist you should be able to find a cheap set of webs or blades,

well, I'm hoping to race HPDE with NASA next season at Mid-Ohio, and maybe in IN too. I guess I could go anywhere (Road America, Road Atlanta, my dream: Sebring) If I was willing to pay the coin to get there.

Please recommend setups if you're willing. I know a lot of people will tell me to just use the search, but honestly, I've probably been looking for months here and there. I just want input from the willing.

Lol, I meant the second part. I don't know anything about Ohio.

What kind of suspension budget are you going to be on? I'd suggest PIC Select Coilovers, ASR subframe brace, ITR 22mm rear swaybar, Neuspeed front strut bar, PasswordJDM rear strut bar, ASR swaybar endlinks, and you're going to need new rear LCAs too, Function 7 makes a good quality product. Since your car is an LX I'd try and get some front lcas from a 92-95 Si since yours doesn't have a place to mount a swaybar in the front. You'll definitely want a front sway bar to keep things stable for long sweepers. Tires Azenis RT-615s are a good choice if you're on a budget, if not you could always pick up some R-comps. I'd go with a 15inch tire for sure.

Car is looking good man, I like it so far. Keep up the good work, and if you have any questions at all, feel free to ask. Only thing I would recommend is be careful wetsanding that paint! Chances are the clearcoat is pretty thin with all of the years of washing/waxing and what not. You don't wanna go through, thats never fun. Looks like you did a great job though.

 to someone putting in some work!

sounds like a good list

as far as a budget goes, I'm really not going to "limit" myself so to speak, but I would like to keep it around 1k - 1.5k for now, at least going into the race season next year. I am still trying to recoupe what I took out of my student loan to get this car running! lol

I was considering a full integra (GSR if I can find it) brake swap too. But for now, my suspension doesn't allow me to go fast at all through turns, so maybe if I get that upgraded I won't have to slow down! :D

I looked at the PICs. They look really solid for the price. I'm still learning when it comes to understanding suspension geometry and all of the nerd werds behind it. I do understand the concept of stiff and soft though, and I know my suspension is a little too soft..... (that last sentence was supposed to be FULL of sarcasm).

I'm gonna sell my buddy my 16s, use the stealies for a while, and keep my eyes out for some blades or webs or something nice and functional. I can use the money right now, or put it toward those PICs

Just out of curiosity, is your car set up for autox, road racing, or both?

I need your help with body work and paint prep matt, I suck at it. I'll show you a pic tomorrow of my horrible prepping abilities.

My car is setup for Autox, it's a little too tail happy for a road course. I'd definitely want a front swaybar if I was to take it on a road course. 15s would also be preferable. I'm on 14s right now.

Mid Ohio is pretty cool, we wnet down there a few years ago for the super bike races, it was a blast. We threw our 50s over the fence at like 2 in the morning and did a lap around the track on them. Id like to get my car down there some time, it would be awesome.

Prep work is a pain in the ass, but its the only way you'll ever get things to look decent.

Just take your time, try to use sanding blocks/ pads where you can, and on the body lines, run over the stuff with your fingers pointing up the car not down the sides. Your fingers will leave little grooves in the clear if you run them down the car long ways.

Are you planning on painting this whole thing?

EFHONDAKID :: NASA makes it really easy and relatively affordable to get onto just about any track you could think of. I don't know how much you know about it, but if you're wondering, just go check out nasaproracing.com. check out the HPDE stuff. that's where you start out.

I do plan on repainting the entire car, but not right away. for now I'm just covering up the trouble spots with touch up paint. but then again, the touch up paint looks like shit.... oh well. it looks better than primer. I might get the car into a paint booth this winter break, but if not, definitely next summer.

I've got a new problem. when I'm driving the car, especially cold, it will constantly lurch horribly between little and no pedal (when I'm just doing normal driving). that and the thing idles at 2200 rpm on a cold start, and after a minute or two pulses really bad between 800 and 2000 rpm. I thought this problem was solved when Colletti adjusted the TPS (I had to put a new one in when I did the swap). Do you guys think that the TPS might just be off again? or maybe something else? I will add that I had to bypass the fast idle valve under the throttle body because the fucktard who had the motor before me broke one of the hose barbs off.

On another note, I got home tonight (wed) but too late to get pics of the paint. Upon coming home I found my wedge mount sitting on my bed and my new steering wheel. I'll have to get the wedge mount in so I can actually adjust my seat! yay for being asked to teach people how to drive stick.

oddly enough, no, I'm not throwing any codes. It seems to level out after it's been warm for a while, but it doesn't idle below 1k anymore.
