Hello. i have an 94 4d civic v-tec automatic and i hating it couse of its tranny its not too slow but i want it to be faster
i have an opportunity to make a tranny swap auto > manual ( the tranny is from other civic same year ) for 1k$. will it worth it? and what problems can i have after the swap.
ty in advance

How much did you pay for the car? How many miles does it have on it? How much could you get for it if you sold it? Would it be cheaper to just sell it then buy another one that's manual four doors are a dime a dozen for the most part.

Well the car is after accident, i got it fixed but it doesnt worth much now, in my country i bought it for 7k$ now it will cost smth like 4k$ and new manual one will cost like 6k
so if i swap a tranny i win 1k and i miss the buy/sell mindfu*k. and ofc this car like my baby i prefer to upgrade it than buying another one.
so i probably will go for a swap if there is no problems after it. i would like to know whats waiting me

haha, I have the same issue, I'm stuck on my 4 door because of it's sentimental value to me. It was already a stick though, so not much help there. however, As long as you have the parts and something a little better than basic mechanical skills, it shouldn't be too hard. I'm sure there's a list on here somewhere about what parts you would need, the major things being tranny, linkage, flywheel and clutch, manual tranny mount and rear bracket, pedals, and the clutch master and slave cylinder, with the lines to get them hooked up.

I've got just about everything you'd need for a swap if you're interested, PM me.

i went from auuto to manny in my 98 teg...its not as hard as you would think..hope you have a tube bender flairer cutter.. honestly the easy way to do it is find a cable tranny(unless you mounts wont suport it).hasport sells alot of auto to manual mounts.. most are for hyd clutch though..now if you dont want to run the hyd lines heres the easy way to go..get a hyd trans mount for you chassy from hasport a hyd to cable converter from hasport, hasport or stock shift linkage for you engine and chassy, a cable clutch pedal assy and a brake pedal assy out of a manual honda at a junk yard..your going to have to cut out the auto shifter cable guide from the botton of the car.rivit or weld in a flat plate over it.the holes should be there for the linkage...if you can find a manual center piece get it or fab something yourself.its really not that hard just depends on how you want to do it.o0o chit.clutch and flywheel might help also ....if you have any other questions ask away.

the question was not how to make it. the question is what problems can i exp after the swap
becouse alot off ppl saying an auto > manual will never be as fast as a original manual is it true?

we have done plenty of auto to manuel swaps and it is just the same speed wise y would it be any slower the swap is easy to do in ur car to y not try it and see wat u come up with if u need and ?S ANSWERD about wat u might need hit me up i will tell u anything u need to know

That's actually more of a convienence...

yea to some ppl it is i hated it though but then again i loved it sometimes when i didnt feel like climbing all the way into the car and to the op u know ur going to have to cut the auto trans mount off and weld a manu on unless someone else knows a easier way please inform me lol

your going to need a wiring diagram in most manuals it will show you the wires that do what....its two switches a reverse light(if needed)and a nuetral safety(for the auto chassy to think its in park)i e clutch switch.cool thing is you can hide that one and not even a pissed off ex gf can start it unless shes a mechanic like my wife

Why would that be true? Same engine, same transmission. Whoever said that to you doesn't know what they're talking about.

Hasport and Innovative make auto-to-manual mounts now, although I'm not sure if they have any for the EF/ED chassis...

i know in a ef chassis u dont need it u just use the actual mount from a man trans and it lines up but in a eg the actuall chassis mount is angled diff the manuel is level while the auto angles up we always just cut the angle off and welded the staight one on that is cool that they make them i dont have to weld anymore lol

aspects of a manual trans can make it faster or slower.only diff is weather the owner is a good driver shifter blah blah... yah hasport makes it simple but only for stock auto to manula swaps.i have obd1 in obd2 chassy... but cant have a obd1 cable because they dont make a auto to manny mount kit for the cable swap only the hydro(cable is simpler).there were alot more cable trans made with cable pedals that are easier to find.many trans chassys with all lines and hyd pedals were not as essy to find in a junk yard as cables.cables came in later models when manuals trans were used alot more.in a junk yard in alaska it was a pain in the ass to find a hyd manual honda chassy. i finaly found one threw knowing people4 door 93 civ manny.only reason i have mine done as fast as i did.on the plus side.almost any honda 5 speed brake pedal will work.they havent changed much over the years except spring location for some.but you can use the hasport hyd trans to cable adapter.wich makes finding lines or fabing lines that fit your chassy.so another props to one of the top swap and chop helpers hasport. but ina da only hydraulics will work(boooo)o0o i have an extra 92 b18 gs tranny with linkage for a 93 below civic sitting in montana so i guess let me know if its needed

rly thank you guys becouse i can get the tranny rly cheap from the arabs. and the only thing was on my mind will it be the same as a original manu. you saved my car i was already thinking of changing it. so for now i going to get the tranny :)
