I've been hearing mixed reviews on which engine is better for boost. I guess the sohc has iron sleeves. but i don't know if the dohc does or not. heard the dohc head flows a lot nicer than the sohc too. Opinions please? Thanks!!!

I believe the F22A1 has one of the highest flowing heads; it's up there with the K-series. You don't hear much about them though because not much people even try to build them. The DOHC would just allow individual tuning of the intake and exhaust cam vs. the SOHC.

I'd say keep your F22A, and build that. Bisimoto makes nice parts for the F-series(he's over 480whp IIRC with a naturally aspirated SOHC F22A).

Ok, i think i'm still gonna swap, just for a fresh start. clean out the bay, mine has a lot of miles, and my syncros are starting to go to hell. doesnt like to go to third. sometimes first when its stopped. gotta check the fluid, but i think it would be beneficial to swap.

Ok, so from what i've gathered, go with the F22A SOHC. I would rather run it with turbo as opposed to just motor. Heard that engine holds it very well. Am i right?

you are very right, with its low 8.8 to 1 compression you can get a high amount of psi, or run it daily with a low amount and itll only require little maintenance.. if its the f22a1 look into getting the f22a6 intake manifold runner as it has secondaries and the a1 does not, get the pt6 ecu that also is found on the a6, i got the cam as well but assuming that ull need a regrind, tune, and new aftermarket valve springs i dont think ull need it unless you wanna get it to do the regrind while ur driving with the one you got...
for the upper plenum and throtle body u may wanna check out the h23 wich i know is on a 92-96 prelude (as well as a couple other cars wich im not sure of just yet, still researching)...there is also a double spacer you can buy.... H Series Intake Manifold Spacer (IMS) - Lowers Intake Temperatures

there are several combinations as well wich you can check out here... f22a1 intake madifold? - CB7Tuner Forums

perhaps that was an over kill but im excited that someone interested in the same thing im doin although im probably not going to go turbo for a while, not till i can learn how to maintain it... also check into pulling out the windage tray in the a6 oil pan, if ur going at higher rpm's itll keep the oil from foaming up and hitting the shaft....

or if you havent gottin the motor yet just get the a6 motor all together... they are hard to find complete and in good condition though...ive tried...

I think you should go with a h22 headswap and keep low compression to allow for boost.

i told ya bro lol thier diamonds in the rough to find, you may wanna consider doing the a1 motor and just doing the a6 conversion on it, i found that the people with the a6 ex's had a tendancy to run them into the ground more just cuz "oooo i got an ex blah blah blah" know what i mean....

Wow, todays the first day I really started to look for one. Never had a problem finding an f22a1. Jesus christ you cant find the damn things anywhere. I'll probably just do the conversion. What all is entailed in that?

the cam shaft(onless ur getting a regrind on the one in there for turbo) the a6 intake manifold, dont forget the EGR on that too....i did and kicked myself for it....and pt6 (A6) ECU... you can also get the windage tray out of the oil; pan wich will really help you out when putting more power in it to get tose rpm's up

Yeah, me too! lol. Shouldn't be long. Still gotta get this truck sold. Fix one thing and theres a puddle of gas somewhere else. This time theres a crack in a flaring, and its leaking there. Seems like everytime I chase it down, it jumps further up on it. now its getting closer to winter, and i cant sell it in winter, so i'll have to pay to store it so it doesn't get fucked up in the ohio snow. Heres a little tip for everyone, NEVER BUY A LOWRIDER IF YOU LIVE IN ANY STATE OTHER THAN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!!!
