i was thinking about getting a Sony PSP to use when i go on trips. id use it for the movies and the wi-fi capabilities it has. anyone here got one and how do you like it for the internet capabilities? ive read good reviews about them on Best Buy and Wal-Mart's websites. i just wanna know what people here think about them.

i dunno man the psp is the shit.. but i feel like they are soon to be replaced with a better one from sony.. i dont know for sure but seems like psp has been around for a while hasnt it??

when was it released in the us? i honestly cant remember how long ago it was

Get a PSP. Once you install a custom firmware on it, it becomes a more versatile device. You've got emulators out the wazoo, the ability to play PSOne games almost perfectly (the lack of L2 and R2 is a SEVERE downside) and with the more recent m33 firmwares the ability to rip PSP discs to ISO and play them straight off the memcard. Upside is it nearly eliminates load times... downside is you need a fat card to really use this. There are also applications such as PSPRadio which lets you play shoutcast stations.

You just gotta crack that official firmware, that's all.

Yeah the DS has better games. PSP is really only good if you hack it to play roms.

The DS requires additional hardware to make it play emulators or pirated ROMs. The PSP does not.

Yea right I watched a couple pornos on my PSP when I had it. Youtube vids sometimes worked too.

But the PSP gets boring after a while. Biggest waste of $200 in my life.

In a month or so, Sony is coming out with an updated PSP with a slightly better screen.

I have a DS......

Am I the only one who has the answer?

Ipod touch.

Download your own movies/shows/whatever and upload them to your ipod touch. Super universal, wifi capable. Tons of apps, etc. And they're cheap.

If all you're doing is watching pr0n, I'd expect so.

I have a PSP and don't use it much. It's not a bad device, rather just the redheaded stepchild of sony. Sony does not support it much. The wifi is nice, so is the adhoc if you have friends with that have one. Web browsing is a bit clunky, but what would you expect without a keyboard. How ever if I can get a wifi I can access my ps3 remotely from anywhere. While limited now, supposedly sony has some nice plans for this in the future.

I've been disappointed in the lack of portable - console support. We've heard all about it, but the most we've gotten are unlockables. FFCC and Four Swords were the best we've gotten from that side of things.

to me that's tied for first as the biggest problem with the PSP. The other is lack of a second analog stick. The remote play is the best part, but sony is slow rolling with the full roll out of it. When it's complet you're supposed to be able to access anything on the ps3 HD, except ps3 games/demos, for obvious reasons. Movies and music are supposed to be available. I'm doubting that thing with TMobil will go through either.

Me and My Katamari. That's all you need to say when it comes to the lack of a second analog stick. It's been the only disappointment in the entire franchise and that is the reason why.

When it comes to console - portable support, I want to see games that allow me to use my portable as a controller. Sports games would benefit greatly from this (keep your plays to yourself, etc. etc.). The only snag in that is the lack of bluetooth support in the portables... the controllers on modern consoles rely on this.
