Alright this will be my thread that i will update as progress on the car is made.
i have set a goal of getting my 92 eg hatch into 12.99 or better territory using the current b18b1 ls motor and trans with a healthy sho of nitrous. while keeping a budget of 2grand or less.

ABOUT ME: name is steve,im 29 in south florida,been racing at our local track<moroso> for about 10 years on and off in several diffrent vechiles,ranging from a 86 monte carlo with a fuuly built 355 and slicks running 12 flat@112mph to saturn sc2 on spray.
im pretty good with cars and do allmost all my work myself with some freinds helping out along the way,i must admit im not to familiar with hondas,but im learning:) ive done nitrous installs,porting polishing heads,rebuilding fwd transmissions and installing lsd's.i have a good buddy who owns a eg hatch and is my go to guy for my honda questions,lol


ABOUT THE CAR: Well i ended up with this hatch from a co worker,i had a 2000 monte carlo ls that was clean but high mileage,i ended up trading him for the civic plus he gave me a grand to even things out,it has a cheap red paintjob that is fairly new,b18b1 swap with intake,exhaust,and chipped pcm. the car has run high 14's from its previous owner.i have done a compression check and all cylinders are around 180 to 190.doesnt use any oil,no smoke pulls pretty hard!
the rims in the pics below are gone and its currently on 14" steelies.also i hit a possum the other night that ripped the front lip off as with some paint on the bumper:(car has ice cold ac

THE GOAL: To run a 12.99 or better on nitrous for less then 2grand total cost.
now that means 2grand in parts that will make it go down the track and do the 12second boogie.i have already told my old lady i want some rims for christmas,and they will not count towards the budget,neither will cosmetic or maintance items,i plan on keeping it a DAILY DRIVER..but this is wheir the contrversy would begin,people have their own ideas of what constitutes a daily driver....i have no problem driving a gutted loud ass car,ive done it in the past,i plan on running a open header with a simple turndown, probably not legal,but ive gotten away with it before as long as i dont drive like a asshat racing on the streets i should be fine like before,again im 29 my street racing days are over!
i plan on keeping the ac,but if it comes down to it and im a tenth away from hitting a 12second pass,ac will go.

So the only chance in hell i got of making this turd runs 12.s is making it as light as possible and thats what ive done.i removed everything that wasnt needed and of course ill pull the passenger side seat for track runs.front side windows and tracks were removed and all of the interior except for the dash.

So to keep the rain out i got some 1/8 lexan from a co worker who used to work for a plastic company,he wouldnt take no $$$ for it,although he only had enough to do the front and rear side windows.being a leadman at my job has it perks!lol
so today me and a freind installed it on the front side windows,i didnt want to rivet it over the door frames so we cut it perfect to fit in the original seal of the glass.although a few screws were needed to keep it in place. we ran out of light before we got to the rear side windows though:(
so this coming weekend ill get the rear done,remove the aftermarket exhaust,get a CHEAP header on their.
the car feels like it gained 20hp lol seriously,its a blast to drive! chirps 3rd gear nicely although the tq steer is bad!!!
a lsd might have to happen,but that might put me over my budget,i plan on running drag radials on the 14 steelies in the front with white 15" rota slipstreams as my daily wheels.
i will update next weekend,,,and i expect some n/a track times and a dyno run here in the near future,stay tuned.

with tires and a driver i see no problem with it going 12s even before the gutting of the car, with a good shot of spray or boost
 
i pondered boost just like i have in the past,but with my budget unless i bought someone's used kit or a cheap/junk ebay kit id be over on the $$ plus the install,tapping the pan,etc.of course i could do it but its just alot of down time, i can do a n20 kit in 2hours,with no constant strain on the motor,if i had boost id be in the throttle all the time,lol
im only getting 17mpg as it is...i asked in the forced induction forum but got no response?
wheir do i get fuel from for a wet kit? im used to getting it from the test port so many american vechilles have,but i dont see one on my turd?
title says 2044 lbs cx model anyone have a rough guesstimate wheir im at weight wise now?
lol and im 6"0 only 140 lbs youd have to get a chick in their to get a lighter driver

You could do a home made turbo kit and have it tuned for $2K, but either way, bost or nitrous, you should be into the 12s.
 
true,i could tune it myself for that matter,im familliar with a/f plots.
i just feel comfortable using the n20 i can keep the bottle out of the car except for track runs.i want to get the car running as fast as i can n/a before i spray.
a good kit with a window switch,blow down tube,heater,and purge is gonna cost me a G,if i buy new.but their are a lot of fucktards out their who blow their shit up and selling on ebay or craigslist.
the other GRAND will be used on drag radials,some bolt ons, and tunning,possibly a wideband if $$ allows.
like i said im open for suggestions,still need to know wheir to get fuel form for the wet kit,also i dont know if the fuel pump was swapped out for the intgra pump?
should i swap it for a 195 walbro to be on the safe side?or a 255?
i think a 195 would be fine for n2o am i correct?

i usally run through the gears at least once a day,lol i think that has to do with it.
and yeah the tune is too rich, i need to get it on a dyno or buy wideband,then ill lean her out a bit
 
14.5 before vtec
12.9 or so in vtec

was my tune. Car yanked hard in vtec ans till got great gas mileage while DD. great combo.

Yeah that is pretty low, my B16 is in the 28-30 range even with my foot through the floor. :dunno: But if it grandpa it I can get about 35+.

got to be the tune. Formby told me he wasa getting the same 17mpg or so on his built LSV. thats with pistons,cams and a higher compression.

Yea...17mpg for an ls in a hatch is ridiculous. Looking forward to seeing the progress you make on the car.
 
Gas mileage FAIL. I used to get 30-35 with my hatch if I kept my foot out of it, and thats with a B16 tranny.

Check the codes.

lol are you being sarcastic,cause i thought i was the only one:)still daily driving it!
video was shot with a samsung year old mini dv camcorder model sc-d372
kind of cheap but my sony took a dump,so this is what iended up with,suits my needs
 
Ehh well there really isnt much to see, Im right in the middle of Akron and Canton, and I hardly venture to either. I like my small town.:)
 
i forgot to mention a co worker has a intergra ls<who always tries to do the ricer fly bye on me> AND GETS RAPED,lol
wanted my ugly IMO carbon fiber huge intake pipe and filter,so i traded him for his injen polished intake tube.
and not that you guys havent seen a eg with lexan and a rear strutbar:) i figured to show progress,i went out to the garage and snapped a few pics.
i was able to use the factory seals for the rear just like thr front,but i put some clear silicone on the inner lip just to be safe.and the car doesnt leak a drip even with the garden hose right on top of the lexan.im gonna get some black paint at the local hobby store to duplicate the factory glass lines like the rear windows have on the eg's...problem im having is the lexan is hard to see out of WTF? ive had g.e. lexan before and it was crystal clear,this stuff is like hazed although it was new and had the protective tape over it?wtf?
i mean i can see that theirs a car next to me,just hard to tell what it is,lol
anyone know what to clean lexan with?
money is tight with christmas around the corner,but i want to get it to the track the way it sits now while the nice colder weather is here,after the first of the year i should be in bettershape to get this project really rolling,lol
its funny the looks i get daily driving it.:)
