Okay so basically I have a LS/VTEC hatch that I want to turbo and I have several questions before I go out and turbo this thing and blow it up. I will give as much information as possible to help everyone out.My set up as follows so far: on about 25-30K (I was going to replace asll the gaskets and seals anyways before boost to refresh the motor and piston rings.) JDM B16A1 head Crower double valve springs Crower titanium retainers Black knight valves Usdm Oem Gsr cams Oem seals & gaskets JDM B16a1 sir intake manifoldB18A1 blockB16 spec 82mm pistons oem ls rods ACL race bearings Gsr water pump Gsr oil pump Gsr timing belt Oem gaskets and sealsIgnition: Jacobs electornics ice pack systemTranny: JDM Integra xsi with a stage 2 clutch and Fidanza 7.5lb flywheel. about 15KEcu: P28 tuned with crome goldDynoed @ 160whp 147ftlbs on a mustang dyno.Supension: Tociko Blue struts & RS*R Racing springs with Mugen bump stops. about 30K comfortable for where I live but I still need strut bars and sway bars. Now my question is how much boost do you think this motor can handle with a t3/t4 turbo? All I have so far is an intercooler and castiron manifold with a t3/t4I was going to just order a whole ebay kit because it comes with everything even a turbo timer, electric fan, in car boost controller, and its like 50 dollars less than a grand so I can afford it. I was going to use my turbo and manifold because it has a t04e and stainless steel manifold. My power goals are about 250-280 low boost and high boost settings. Will that be possible as my motor sits? Will I be able to handle that?I wanna make as much power on this set up as I can with out rebuilding just yet. I bought another block to rebuild stronger when I break this one.I'm looking for a fun street car I'm bored with my setup already.what kinda quarter mile times? How much psi can I handle / make like this? I have a good local shop for dyno tuning! They dyno tuned the N/A setup as it sits. Thanks in advance guys.

Lose the ACL race bearings, those are for race engines only! Use OEM Honda bearings, they are far better than ACL bearings. And as far as boost, your motor will be fine as long as you get it tuned and tuned well. Thats the most important thing in any turbo build.

oh yeah if stock internals d-series motors can push 250 I am guessing your built ls/vtec will be able to handle possibly up to 400 hp safely. But like he said tuned well.

Yeah I know about the stock internals being very stout. I just wanted to get some feedback from other Honda nuts.So does anyone have a similar setup they have boosted? Any ls / vtec turbo build links? I know I could use the search function, but on my mobile phone the it doesn't always work so well.

My friend has a built LSVTEC, hes running 15lbs with a 60-1, I dont know what he is making to the wheels because he just street tuned it and hasnt had it on a dyno yet.

T3/T4 on the left, 60-1 on the right. Its a BIG turbo.

Yeah that's a big difference. This is going to be my first turbo build. I was going to start with a T3 T4 because that's been tried and battle tested. I've been into the import scene since the early 1990' s when I lived in San Diego and a lot of the fast guys back then had T3 T4's but I really want a GT28R.Any thoughts on that? I know these are kinda newbie questions but I've been out of the game since 04 & just got back this year.

so then it will be under squre

Not much to add as far as info for your build, but here is a link to my build which has lasted me several years and still runs super hard. I havent experienced any smoke out the exhaust or oil consumption. Believe it or not this car fires faster then my bone stock daily driver civic. Again just an idea as far as parts that work well together, any questions or comments just ask. https://hondaswap.com/engine-building/boosted-ls-vtec-build-finished-92905/

Ok, so my buddy has a stock internal Ls/Vtec on 14lbs. He is tuned on crome pro and dyno'd 360fwhp. Now we just put in the sk2 pro 1 cams and fixed an ignition problem (losing spark at 7500). We are estimating somewhere around 400fwhp on a stock motor. well it has head studs and a few little goodies, 1000cc injectors, motorola 2.5 bar map, and the turbo is a holset hx35w, (great turbos off of 98 dodge cummins) so as far as ur motor handling the boost and stuff you are fine, I would use the t04e turbo and prolly the stainless mani(just build a couple braces for it) Ive known people to be in the 350fwhp area with those turbos on like 15 lbs... the biggest thing is to have a wideband and someone that knows how to tune very well... best bet is on a dyno but u can get ur car runnin very good on a street tune!

Thanks for the feedback, I decided not to use the manifold I had or the turbo, I'm looking for a good flowing manifold, I like the equal length tubular manifolds. I was told to stick with the cast iron type because they don't crack. But I read the equal length manifolds spool up faster and flow better mid- high rpm range. I was pretty set on going with a GT28R turbo, but when I saw how small it was I kinda changed my mind. It also seems to have the wastegate in the turbo itself. I don't want that. Looks like I'm going to have to do more research. I'm taking my time to pick the right combination of parts. I am NOT going with the ebay kit anymore. After looking at boostedforfuns turbo build I decided to piece my own kit together after looking at several kits online. I want to get quality parts. my goal is longevity, reliabilty & streetability.

Any thoughts on a manifold like this style?m.ebay.com/Pages/ViewItemPic.aspx
if the link doesn't come up its a ramhorn style manifold.

Be careful on what you buy from ebay. One thing you dont want to go cheap on is a turbo manifold, because if you do it is going to crack down the road. I have experienced this personally and it is not fun taking it all back apart and building a new down pipe. If I were you I would stick with a good brand such as lovefab or peak boost here are links to there sites. They have good warranties and the last thing you will have to worry about is cracking. I personally like the peakboost manifold, I was going to go with it untill I got a killer deal on my mprd. LoveFab Motorsports - 231.499.3912

I don't want to get my manifold from ebay, I was just using that to reference the style. I am going to post a link to the one I want and feel free to give me feedback.I know the majority of the $ needs to be spent on a good turbo and manifold. The heart of the system.

Okay I got my intercooler and turbo for a great deal brand new. T3 T4 respectfully.
