probly a repost... i really dont fucking care

got this in an email... and its pretty damn true :)

If you are 25 or older you will either sympathize or think this is hilarious!!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ... uphill BOTH ways

yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that I'm over the ripe old age of twenty five, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet .If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ' d usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed!

Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel or use the box with the 2 position buttons with the cable that ran back to the TV. Not to mention, there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire...imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled.

You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Regards,

The over 25 Crowd

lmfao

I remember when we got a VCR and it was the coolest shit ever cause you could change the channel on the tv with the vcr remote...
back when remotes were called your kids

they didn't even have cable anywhere near my house when I was growing up
we picked up tv from NYC via a big ass antenna on top of the house
we got lucky when we got a power antenna turner so we didn't have to climb on the roof everytime there was strong wind that spun the antenna, and we could fine tune whichever station we were watching that night so there was LESS static

I remember those days as well the first vcr we had a wire going to the remote. The dog we had chewed it in two and we were stuck again.

WOW!!!!! You had 15 channels. I only had 2. HBO when it first came out, and If your old enough, a cable channel called WHT.
Yeah they don't know how good they've got it, and damn it sucks to sounds like those damn adults that we all promised ourselves we would never try to sound like.

wait, you guys had cable?

and touchtone phones?????????

and a microwave???????????????????????????

Lol, dang im almost 25. You know the saying, how you enter your 30's is only going to get worse on from there, so get off the couch.

Fuck, I didn't even have cable and I'm not over 25. I had the roof antenna with a tuner. A computer? haha. Idk, maybe I was just poor.

im 25 had internet when i was like 12 my grandpa who i lived with was in to computers like you wouldnt blieve he still has his old packarg bell 386. my first cell phone had more computing power then this thing. But all my friends loved to come over and play games it was cool

And particularly relevant to your industry E, we didn't have internet porn! Wooohooo! All the snizz you could ever want at your fingertips!

25 year old bitching about Atari? Thats because his parents were too cheap to buy a friggin Nintendo. They were released in 1983. 15 channels? They didn't want to buy a dish and get the 200+ channels that you could get. I'm 28 and grew up with pretty much everything I have now. I mean, yea, the video games are better now.. Moot point. I had a million different bicycles. Freestyle, BMX, 10 speed, mountain bikes.. and a pedal-kart, later graduated to a go-kart. Skateboards, I had BB guns and friends and girl friends and endless adventures.

The poor bastard children of today play video games and surf the internet all day, check their email, live their dramas via myspace.. Its fucking sad. I feel sorry for them. And their butterball asses.

We had a Nintendo. We copied tapes, not MP3s. I think we were up to 60 channels in the early 90's. I remember because X-Files were on channel 49. My dad signed up for Compuserve in `95 for Windows 3.1, if anyone remembers those? We had a microwave too. I think the title should apply to 35+ people.

HAHA!

I remember the coolest feature of our VCR (which had a corded remote) was when my dad showed me an explosion sequence in a movie we were watching, and he paused it during the blast. I was in freakin' awe. haha

I'm 22 and all that applied to me.

-Got a microwave early on but remember not having one.
-Remember taping radio. NY DJs never shut the fuck up. I remember doing in the car. Got yelled at for draining the battery.
-I remember no call waiting or caller ID.
-I had Atari for a long time. Sega was my upgrade after.
-And I had a wood paneled 13" with a 13 channel dial that only had about 5 channels. Had it for years. It got a VCR later on with the remote and then I had it for longer. In fact, I think the family only got rid of it a year or two ago.

Computer wise though my grandparents had one. Oregon Trail mother fucker. I can't imagine how, as a hyper little kid, I sat there and watched that block version of a wagon click across the screen.

I hopped online to Quantum Link at 300 baud you young whippersnappers! It's like watching an old dot matrix printer, except the scrolling stops for a second to change color. Hell, I used to wreak havoc at those speeds on a payphone :D

anybody remember the old mechanical push button cable boxes? It had about 10 push buttons in a row and a 3 position toggle switch on the right. Toggle switch in the top was channel 1 - 10, middle was 11 - 20 and bottom was 21 - 30.
