Since no one would help me on my thread https://hondaswap.com/hybrid-ed-ef-da/mini-me-z6-122325/ i'm starting a new one.

I picked up a Z6 head from a wrecker, so I don't have any idea how it ran before. Before I go and spend a whole lot of money on a complete re-build I'm going to see how it runs. The motor currently in my car is as happy as can be so I'm not touching it. In my dads car his D16A6 is getting tired. So I'm putting my D16A6 in my dads car and using his tired A6 to rebuild with my Z6 head. Before I tear apart that block I'm going to guickly slap on the Z6 head on OBD0 to see what it needs. I won't drive it or anything so it shouldn't be hard on it.

It has a lot of build up on the valves, he must have not ever ingaged VTEC, so sad.:bawling: Do you think it is necessary to put brand new valves in or can I just do a valve grind? Its going to be a 10:1 CR. Underneath the valve cover it looks clean, oil soaked, but clean. I'll probably do valve seals too.

Anything you can think of that may need rebuilding? Thanks

This is what I have to work with. I was able to scrape off some of the build up so it doesn't look as bad as it used to.

Always a good idea to have it rebuilt. Heads warp from being torqued down / heat / various forces.. When they rebuild it, they'll deck it as well as magnaflux it to make sure there are no hidden cracks, etc. Good added insurance. If the head is off even a little tiny bit, its going to eat head gaskets like candy.

My dad had a D15B2 like that, we put three headgaskets in it before we figured it out.

Also i'm still going to rebuild it, but do you think I should get new valves or not.
