does the d16z6 have bolts for the head under the camshaft because i took the 10 bolts our (5 on either side of the cam) and it will not budge.

There should only be those 10, make sure you undo the dizzy I think and also another "halfcircle" metal thing that will/might be on the edge around the cam gear area.
I might be wrong, if not try pulling a bit harder? I look around and get back.

no just the 10 head bolts. there also isnt any other metal piece you have to remove. make sure everything is disconnected and if it doesnt just pull off youll have to pry the head up with a screw driver or something of the sort

Screwdriver? Are you kidding me? That could damage the head and/or the block which could cause some major headaches later.

Try using a rubber mallet to loosen the head. They have little alignment sleeves in the block to align the head. These sleeves can get sticky when you try to pull the head off. If you're gonna pry on anything, pry on the outer cast of the head where there is no gasket contacting it but only do this as a last resort. Never stick anything between the head and the block and pry with it.

alright cuz my uncle said there is a plate thing that holds the intake mani on (like it supports the back of it) is there?????

There is a bracket that supports the intake manifold that mounts to the bottom of the manifold and to the back of the block. If you haven't pulled the intake manifold off the head, you should before you try pulling the head off.

:werd: .. probably the bracket supporting the IM

yeah a screwdriver. read the repair manual it even tells you to! and i didnt mean between the head and block. pry from the power steering bracket and block. but if you forgot about the bracket on the im id say thats the culprit

I would assume a backwoods, redneck mechanic wrote the manual you got that from. Any good mechanic, or repair manual, would tell you that a screw driver is not the right tool to be prying anything with, even though most of us use them to pry with. Use a small pry bar instead of a screw driver.

btw, I'm not trying to degrade you're intelligence but you didn't specify where to pry from in your earlier post. Next time, please try to make it a little more clear for the guy so he doesn't end up screwing everything up. Afterall, we're all here to help and give advise and if the advise causes more of a problem then it's not really helpful. And that's just not cool.

so i have to take the intake manifold off to get the head off??????? i didnt think it would be a problem i thought it would just come right off with the head.

The intake manifold will come off with the head. The thing holding you back is the bracket between the intake manifold and the block. It has 4 12mm bolts in it. You can see it from underneath the car and on top too if you look around.

ok thanks im probly just going to pull the whole engine so i can rebuild it and while i have it out port and polish the intake manifold and do a low compression rebuild. thank you for the help

if my bro and my buddy are free on sunday thats when im going to do it ill keep everyone posted (on a different thread) about the progress. ill probly end up boosting it when its all said and done cuz my buddy is going to put a bigger turbo on his rx7 and he said just take his stock one and i can just get my other friend to weld me some intercooler piping at his shop (he works at a muffler shop) and all ill need is a exhaust manifold, blow off valve, and intercooler.
