Making my own build thread. Going to swap my D16Z6 for hopefully a B16 GSR when i get my hands on one. Will update progress here along with other little upgrades i make to my car.

Now if anyone has a B16 GSR for sale hit me up

oh nooooo....:bash: you really need to read a lot. before you start tearing your car apart, get more info. the b16 is NOT a gsr swap. they are very different.

:werd:

'92-'93 Integra GSR is the B17A1
'94-'01 Integra GSR is the B18C1 (most common)

No B16 was a GSR. Only way to make a B16 a GSR is if you drop a GSR head and intake on a B16 block.

maybe he is thinking of the xsi integra that came with a b16

B16 = B16
GS-R = B18C1

Check out the engine list in the reference section to learn more about the B-series engines...

whew thanks guys, was about to make a big mistake haha.
I found this engine: catalog_product Anyone know if its a go or no go?

the 'engine only' won't get you very far. you're going to want the 'complete changeover' including the tranny, axels, mounts, ecu, wiring harness, etc etc

OK, so i found an engine (with complete swap) i want to buy, a B18C. I know that a b16 will just set right into my engine bay, with the correct mounts; but will a B18? With the correct mounts will it just set in? no welding required?

Yup. B18 will drop right in with a set of mounts and a shift linkage. Hit up Hasport for good quality stuff.

i would suggest instead of spending $3,000+ on a motor from "japan" hit up your local junk yard and see if they have and wreck teggys. me and my bro found a 91 GSR and the guy only wante $500 for the whole thing (engine and tranny looked goof to me) but we never got it cuz us kids in sc are broke as a joke.

Kinda curious how you found a '91 GSR? Honda didn't introduce the GSR until '92. And yeah, sometimes it can be beneficial to find a motor in a junk yard but in most cases you'll end up spending more to get it up and running 'cause you never know what's wrong with the motor. Plus, a GSR motor is hard to find in a junkyard anyway. At least with a swap motor, it'll have almost everything needed to drop right in and in most cases has a guaranty.

well im considering it, i called my local junkyard and they have 3 Integras. I'm going to go like tomorrow or when i get time and check them out. But how can i tell if the engine is a b18c? will it say somewhere or am i playing a guessing game? Also im going to look and see if they have any hondas with a K engine, will a K fit into my bay with the correct mounts or is there something else involved? thanks.

There's a lot involved in converting to a k. Unless you got money and time I would stay away from a k swap. Stick with the B series for now.
A sure give away for a B18C1 is the intake. The intake manifold is a lot bigger on the GSR. After you identify the larger intake then look at the casting numbers to verify.

The GSR intake looks like the bottom one (closer to the photographer) and the top one is an ITR intake. Notice how the GSR intake is bubbled up?

based solely on your posts, i can tell you are not ready to do a k-series on your own. i'm not being a douche, just honest. you need to read those links i gave you before you spend money and end up with shit you cant use.

i know your not a douch, you've been very helpful. I admit i dont know a lot but im in the learning process. If the k swap is difficult i wont do it. I'll just stick with the B18c.

stick with the b. it's cheap and easy to do. you'll be happy with the power. and if that is your car in your avatar, lost the body kit, lol.

The body kit isn't too bad imo, i am going to paint the car either flat or glossy black when I'm done with the swap, and touch up the kit a bit. After the swap I'm going to get a high flow exhaust, new brakes, and turbo. Also i am going to get a good sound system when I'm done with internals and cosmetics.

IMO- its not bad to make your car ricey as long as it has the balls to back it up, and you did the mods yourself. (aka- didn't have daddy buy it for you)

Though i am tossing the ricer spoiler and installing the stock spoiler.
