Alright im looking to buy and exhaust for my car and im low on money so im looking for any quiet catbacks and i got $300 to spend i dont want nothing that sounds like a tin can or raspy just quiet and sounds good when u get into it any ideas in brands let me know it will be appreciated, if u can post the link

If $300 is your budget then just take it to an exhaust shop and tell them what you want. They should be able to build a custom exhaust system for you...

Ebay stainless 4-2-1 header 2.25" $50
Blox 2.25" adjustable test pipe $100
Ebay Tenrai catback
all 2.25" stainless piping (and yes i checked lol)
$165 shipped

You could go for somethin like this. or like brutal said you can just have one made for about $300 i'm sure

It sounds pretty good at all times other then some raspyness around 3300rpm. not sure if its a rattle or if its somethin to with the internals of the exhaust system itself. Otherwise the quality of it looks pretty good, and the welds dont look too bad either. and it does come with a removeable silencer which is good for long road trips on the freeway. either way i cant complain since the catback was only $165 shipped and i was tryin to keep it cheap lol.

as you can see the old system was in dire need of replacement.. and yes thats a turbo coupling with radiator hose clamps holding the ass end of the exhaust together. after that piece broke in two i said it was time to replace it all finally lol.

if you looking for best bang for you buck, you will make more power with a light weight flywheel and atleast a stage 2 clutch, still under a 300 budget if you do the work yourself

like i posted in your other thread, what is your setup? $300 exhaust might not do anything for you.

LS engine + VTEC stickers?

How do a flywheel and clutch increase horsepower? They don't...

A light weight flywheel will free up power at the crank helping it spin easier, less weight the easier the crank will spin. A better cluch will grab faster. thous equaling about a half a sec off 0-60 times.

But they don't technically add power.

If you want a nice sounding exhaust around town that will really growl when you get on it at higher rpm's I would go with a magnaflow exhaust system. Go to your local exhaust shop and have them make a 2 1/4" system with 10445 round body for a resonator and a 11215 for a main muffler. If you want to save a few bucks you can search those magnaflow part numbers on ebay and than take them into a exhaust shop and have them bend some pipes and weld them up. I got mine done for $275 about 9 months ago. This combo really sounds awesome.

:werd:

You said that they would add power; they don't, they just reduce rotational mass to free up some of the ponies that the engine is already making...that's all I was saying...just a clarification for anyone reading...

I agree! I'm also using a custom-bent exhaust with a Magnaflow resonator and muffler and I think it sounds great. There's no rasp to it at all, just a low growl to let you know it's not quite stock. It doesn't get annoying at all daily driving it...

When i got the car from my roommate it had a blown d15b in it. he put the stickers on when he had it and while the d15b still ran (as in before he spun a rod bearing). i swapped that out for the d16a6. then did the mini-me later down the line. and now i have the b18b1. i just decided to leave the stickers on cause they look dece. despite the fact they are totally inaccurate lol. i figure i'll peel em off when i do a gsr swap most likely next summer.

here's my cardomain page showing me removing the d15b and droppin in the a6. and on the other pages you'll see my other exploits from past and present. i am not a poser and i do pretty much all of the work on my car.

and this is the color on the valve cover now, since i seen someone mention they liked the valve cover color earlier. the one above is gloss blue metallic, and this one here is purple, green, and blue depending on how you look at it. need to get new pics though with the new billet cam seal, and the skunk 2 replica intake manifold.

I got my full exhaust for under $200 from ebay all stainless 2.25 pipe from the header all the way out the a$$ end.

you have to be careful about some low budget exhaust systems. i got mine from ebay a couple of months ago, and one of the mating flanges rubs on the seatbelt bolt underneath the car. it's suuuuppppeeeerrrrrrrrrr annoying believe me. i ended up just taking a half inch thick piece of plywood and notching it to fit between the exhaust and the exhaust tunnel, held in place by the pressure between the exhaust and the tunnel, along with some thick copper ground wire to keep it from wiggling around. works good and isn't annoying anymore. there were a two mounting holes on one of the flanges that were too small that i had to drill out too. also, the muffler is where the stock muffler is placed, it's huge and isn't in the right position so it's really close to the ground. there isn't really a fix for that. i plan on getting a better exhaust system after i do some other stuff, then i'll just throw this crap out lol. but like i said, be careful. best of luck to you too. the link of my exhaust system is below.
eBay Motors: 88 89 90 91 HONDA CRX STAINLESS CATBACK MUFFLER EXHAUST (item 360123833405 end time Feb-12-09 18:08:01 PST)

and were not into ghetto rigging out cars that much.... i like to know that copper wire and plywood arnt holding my car together

sometimes, ghetto rigging is the only option.
and im sure its not holding his car together either.
the plywood is just in between two things and the wire is just holding the wood..

i didn't see how old this thread was, my bad lol. i was just bored and looking through the ef forum. as for the exhaust, that's just temporary. i know it's ugly, but it was super cheap and was a million times better than my rusted through exhaust. it was so rusty that instead of undoing the bolts, i just smashed it into pieces to disconnnect everything lol. my car isn't held together with wood and copper wire, the wood is super secure from the pressure of the exhaust pressing against it, which is pressed against the exhaust tunnel under the car. the wood has notches in it which the thick, solid copper ground wire passes through and then wraps around the exhaust tubing, and the wire just keeps the wood from rotating at all. it's all very sturdy and it was basically the only way to remedy the situation without buying another exhaust system or having this one cut and rewelded
