Hey guys,

I'm having all kinds of trouble with a 2003 Civic LX D17---> D17 V-tech swap and thought I'd come here to put an end to all of my troubles.

I'm at work now, so details will be vague, although I'll post all of my swap troubles later on, which has cost me over $3000...and counting.

I need to know if a JDM V-tech 5 spd manual transmission wiring harness will work in a North American SI (or EX)...? Do I need to get the computer swapped as well (currently have a JDM auto tranny ECU). The guys at the JDM shop keep selling me the wrong parts, then CHARGING me to swap them. They originally sold me a wiring harness for a d17 v-tech with auto tranny, and are now charging me an extra $200 extra dollars to get the one for manual trans :mad:

I'm basically getting f-ed around by the guys at the local JDM shop, so any input will be appreciated!

Full story to come, thanks in advance.

First, if they're selling you "v-tech" parts, they're selling you phone parts.

Second, why the heck would you take that from them? If THEY are selling you the wrong part then THEY should replace them unless they have been used. It sounds to me like you should find another shop my friend.

My best suggestion is to switch shops and quit buying from people that seem to not have a clue what you need, then re-charging you for it. Personally I would tend to think the harness should work on both and would first try out the harness that I had before going out and buying another one.

I really wish you the best of luck on this one my friend and remember, quit buying phone parts. :D

Haha, sorry, I'm a little new to this "v-tech" business, lol.

Anyways, now that I'm on a computer and not the Iphone, I can go into further detail.

Basically what has happened, is the guy selling me the JDM part KNEW he was selling me parts for an automatic, while I require parts for a manual...he also took the liberty of offering me a cash discount (which seeing as how I was already overbudget on my swap and wasn't aware there was a difference between Auto and Manual accepted his terms). So now, I'm stuck with this auto harness that is useless to me and my only option is to pay him extra $$$ to trade it for the one I need (*cough* what goes around comes around *cough*).

Essentially, he set himself up to charge me $600, for something he probably paid >$50 for...

Live & learn I guess.
