let's get it started.

I don't really care who wins, but i want to see 5 rounds of great mma. lesnar is being rushed into the title fight.

there aren't enough good heavyweights in UFC right now.

lesnar is going to get his ass kicked by randy couture.
Lesnar was/is a nasty wrestler. That does great things for being able to control an opponent. I'm saying it will be a pretty good one but Couture will win in the end, maybe sooner.

if lesnar had 5 years of experience under his belt, this would be a no-brainer. i wouldn't be surprised if he wins though. he's a tough sob.

and why is couture the "underdog"? everybody is picking him to win.

i'm completely disappointed with mario's call on stopping the fight.

the rule is to stop the fight if the fighter is not protecting himself.

sure, lesnar was connecting, but couture had his gloves up and was trying to stop the birage. i think the call was made too early. :(

I think the call was made late if anything. Lesnar knocked him out cold, then dropped him a second time with the first big hammer fist. From then on it was like wailing on a corpse. Kudos to the ref for not stopping it early. But the last five or fifteen seconds Couture was eating fist wasn't necessary.

Lesnar wins the Heavyweight Belt in less the 12 months in the UFC with a good KO over a legend. All doubt is laid to rest, if you beat the man, you're the man.

the elbow stunned him, and the hammer fist put him down. i fully agree with that.

but, pretty much as couture landed on the mat, he had his gloves up to protect his face.

The ref is supposed to stop the fight when an opponent is no longer able or capable of protecting himself.

I don't think that was the case here.

I'm no couture die-hard. I could care less and im not taking sides. i just think if he let it go on in a couple more seconds randy would have snuck out like he always does and continued fighting.

the elbow I referred to was early in the round

the overhand right put couture down an by the time Lesnar got down to him Randy was regaining and putting his hands up, then the first hammer fist dropped him again. You actually see fights end that way allot. Chucks last fight against Rampage comes to mind

Lesnar just had too much ham in those gloves, Couture's only really chick in the armor is his chin, not that he's a glass jaw by any means. But as Liddell and now Brock have shown us, if you can hit him on the button you'll win a prize

couture is the better overall fighter he is just too small to deal with lesnar's size... he is an absolute freak of nature.... But either bigger fighter (mir/nogera) will submit lesnar in the next fight...

In a year or two if lesnar gets his ground game together he will be back on top no question, but his bjj defense is no where close to where it needs to be to beat Mir in the rematch or nogera, whoever wins that fight.

If anything this fight shows that a striker/wrestler who goes up against the big man will go down, couture was just too small

I'm calling it now, Lesnar wins the the Mir/Nog fight. Bank on it.

Lesnar only lost to Mir because he had zero composure, he looked like a guy getting pussy for the first time, all rush rush no thought involved. In the last two fight's he's stressed composure and in doing so dominated Herring and cleanly beat a UFC legend.

Go back to round one of last night's fight. Lesnar had just passed Couture's guard into a mount (that in itself is huge). Couture reverses and nearly climbs atop Lesnar's back, then something I would have never guessed Lesnar was capable of happened. Lesnar reversed Couture's reverse and went right back to a dominating position.

That, not the knockout, not winning the title, was the most impressive thing Lesnar did IMO

We all talk freely about how great a wrestler Couture is, and rightly so. He's an impressive wrestler, assistant coach at Oregon St, Olympic alternate. Probably the best wrestler in MMA (sorry Hughes). Lesnar's counter didn't happen from his strength, it was pure technique. Lesnar won a NCAA championship but Couture wrestled on a world level. I defy anyone to show me a video of Couture getting out wrestled in the Octagon, before last night you won't find it. THAT is something to write home about.

He didn't pass his guard, in the takedown, he landed in half guard and stayed there.

the original half guard by Couture (following Lesnar's first round takedown) was passed by Lesnar after he (Lesnar) tried for side control but was blocked by Couture (just re watched in on my DVR to confirm)

couture was just to small for lesnars size like speed racer said it was not a fair match up at all. have lesnar drop like 30lbs and then let them fight again i garurentee that randy would beat his ass there is no way he kept the belt that long with not being a good fighter.

lol, for anyone ho thinks the fight was stopped early

it looked to me that couture was trying to tap. he was slapping lesnars arm, the he rolls onto his stomach and starts hitting the mat.

he could barely get up. he might not have been knocked out, but he wasn't defending himself.

I predicted he'd be UFC champion by april 08 before he even had a fight.

So I'm 7 months off, sue me :D
I was off too lol. I thought he would have gotten his title shot even sooner. I suspected White was going to get even more money hungry and throw him in the title mix right away.

I brought that thread into the mix just for the sheer fact of all the Lesnar hate and shit talking. IMO, he still doesn't have the skill set to hang with Big Nog or Fedor but his massive size and strength alone will present problems for the entire HW division. Can you imagine how dangerous he's gonna be with decent submission defense and a few submissions in his arsenal... Crazy.

Forget Big Nog and Mir for a second, I wanna see Lesnar smash Bob Sapp and Kimbo... At the same time
