i just bought a 94 del sol with a d16z6,and i am looking for some easy mods to make it faster, look cooler, and ride better.please help me,i am kind of doing this on a budget but im open to all suggestions.

Screw the looks right off the bat is my suggestion. What is your budget like? In order to make it faster, boost it. Greedy, HKS, Peakboost...etc. etc. make great, complete kits.

Save, save, save, take your time, save, get older, save, learn how to drive better, save some more, keep learning, drive even better, save and be happy with what you have for now. That's a sweet first car, at least I am assuming it is your first. Patience will pay off my friend, especially since you are so young and inexperienced. Learn as much as you can, learn how to drive, save, have patience and it will all pay off. Best of luck to you.

get some 15" wheels. something like an oem integra wheel.

get some GOOD brakes.

practice driving. save for a suspension.

A good driver in a slow car will beat a bad driver in a fast car. you don't need 2309751430 hp in a car.

oh, and drag racing sucks. learn how to corner and you'll have fun. i had a del sol once. it is a fun car to have.

Thats not too bad looking. Keep it as is or go back towards OEM. I wouldn't do much of anything to the outside if I were you. You already drive a Honda, you don't need any more attention from thieves than what you already have.

if you haven't already, check out solsociety.com Its the largest sol community online

You're 15. Keep it stock, and go to college, or at LEAST finish freaking high school. After you get good job, buy a better car.

FYI, Throwing bolt-ons on that car is only going to make it annoying, loud, and it will still be slow while increasing the chances of getting a ticket by about 100 fold.

Also ditch the hood and get some 15" OEM Honda rims.

Chris,

That is my car! I have a Kamanari hood that looks like that minus the engine (I had the d16z) and I have stock rims!

Not knowing what mods you have under the hood or your budget (if any), here are a few free/cheap mods for you.

Buy a Cold Air intake.

Modify the Stock Air intake. Looking on the left side of the engine bay, you will see your air filter box. Under that, you will see the plastic piping. As long as you don't live in a wet/snowy area, you can use a hack saw to cut the U-shaped plastic piping and remove the rest above that so you have a low, self modified cold air intake. Again, if you have the money, buy a cold air intake.

For aesthetic purposes, I noticed from your pictures that your windshield wiper arm paint is fading. Use some sand paper and clean with thiner. Use some good paint primer and light sand and repeat primer then paint flat black. Don't use cheap 99 cent paint.

Hope that helps.

i am only fifteen and dont have a verry good job,i could prolly do 500 a month.
That makes two of us.:)

I'm exactly where you are right now, except I already know a fair bit of stuff form the very, very helpful HondaSwap members.

I would also take a driving course. My dad takes me and my car to a open parking lot and we set up cones.:D When I'm 16 I can get a day driving course with a professional driver, I would recommend something like that too.

dont worry chris i neg repped the clown above me.

Come on bro you didnt answer his question AT ALL

And I'm about to neg rep you for neg repping him...

That guy's comments are pretty much exactly what I would have said. What the OP wants doesn't exist. There is no such thing as good AND cheap mods. Yeah, he can throw some E-Bay bolt-ons onto his car for fairly cheap, but all it's going to do is make it sound like a weed whacker and make him a cop/thief magnet. If you actually want to go faster then you need to spend some money...turbo kit, engine swap, good quality bolt-ons, etc.

I'd say do suspension and call it good for now. Save up for a swap or turbo kit.

Don't make me neg rep you Austin. My negative rep hurts...

PLEASE NO!!! I've learned sooo much!! but really though. From what I get from his orignial post he just wants a slightly quick car through town... as much as it hurts to say it Ebay shit would work for his set up.... Though I do agree with you supsension would be a nice place to start till he saves some money but, again from what i understand, he just wants to sound fast

read the dyno sheets from magazines like import tuner and super street. they do setups and mods on cars.

i/h/e on a d16 might net you 7-10whp. it's not worth it. even if you spend $200 on those things. (which wont happen) you could get a good set of springs for $200-$300 and drive faster than those weak mods.

thats were you are wrong there is such thing as a cheap good mods, some people make more money than other people. therefor a bolt on turbo kit and a good tune may easily be in someones price range and they consider it cheap. ;)

Its your del sol kid get a suspension setup that you like, some bolt ons and any body mods that you may like. its your first car have fun with it and all that matters is that you like it

What the hell was the point of posting that? Just to say "look at me, I have money!!"?

Also, if you have the kind of money where a name-brand turbo kit is chump change, then why are you driving a Honda Civic in the first place?
