Okay, i dont know alot about cars

im just really into racing and the guy i hang out with everyday and good friends with races
he has an evo 9 so thats fun lol

anyway, obviously im interested in getting a civic hatchback

probably anywhere from 90-96 i dont care too much

i just need to find one without an engine in it because i have a guy telling me he can swap a b20 vtec into it for a grand

so couple questions,

whats a good place to try to buy a gutted civic or something? (website or something)

do u recommend a b18vtec or b20vtec

since im pretty much a newbie, what else should i know when getting this engine dropped in or what should i do after i have it done?

and im having trouble finding torque and horsepower specs on b18vtecs and b20vtecs

thanks for any help

Craigslist would be a good spot to find a cheap civic, or look at your local junkyard they will probally have a website.
I would go with b20vtec, simply because its higher displacment. Which head are you going to be putting on it?
You should know this is going to be a pretty hard swap. IE the putting the new head on, simply because you dont know much about cars. To do that your going to need a torque wrench and some new stretch bolts off the top of my head. Some one else can chime in on that part
Your having a hard time find specs because it doesnt really exist. What I mean is that thas not a stock engine. Their is too many variables to consider into giving you an accurate hp tq range. But I would guess hp wise you might get like 150 160 or so bone stock. And something like 140 150 tq. Could be wrong, so your going to need to do some research.

i didnt no where to put the post sorry

anyway i would prob keep stock head and get it polished

i only have about 1600-2000

and this guy said he could hook up the engine and swap for a grand

and i look on craigslist everyday but cant find one lol

and a junkyard prob wouldnt be best cus i dont want a hole bunch of dents and shitty interior u know

so you have 1 grand for the motor..... good luck

you need to save up about double what you have, and loose the clown that wants a grand for it

dude if he is charging you a grand to do it, its not your boy
