I've been told I can back-date an OBD1 distributor to run on an OBD0 ECU. what's involved? do I simply re-pin the connector to fit my wire harness?

I have an extra PR3 ecu from my other project, I was going to chip it and run some stock D16Z6 maps and back date the distributor.

Should I run a 1wire o2 or can I run a more accurate 4 wire?

Obd-1 is the way to go on that for proper tuning and reliability just a pricey conversion.

Yeah, I would like to go OBD1 eventually, but this isn't my main project. I'm just trying to get it running quickly for extra transportation. I have the motor, pr3 ecu and everything I need to make it run as obd0.

I finally found some better diagrams that showed the polarity of the TDC sensor in the Distributor. I should only have to pin the wires into the other style connector and swap the tdc around, rewire the map.

It will RUN with out chipping, but I'll chip it with the d16z6 maps and it should run just as well as otherwise.

I don't even need a 4 wire 02 for the pr3, though they are more accurate so I'll wire one in.

OBD1 distributor will not work with OBD0 ECU or vice versa

I'm told it will. With an adapter plug or swapping the plug on either the car or the distributor and swapping the tdc sensor polarity... Guess I'll let ya know when I try it. That'll be a week or so until I get a chance to work on it again. Holidays are a bitch...

So, the car I heard of that was running a pr3 on a D16z6 had one of those hard as shit to find OBD1 PR3's. I started looking at the code in the computer that controls the distributor, hell no. That would take me a week to write a new code in the obd0 computer to control the obd1 distributor...

So, I went junk-yarding and got me an obd1 p28 with connectors and a length of wire still attached... Gonna chip it and sacrifice a pm9 I have layin around to make a obd0-obd1 jumper... already re-pinned the distributor plugs, removed the injector resister box, and am hooking up all my other senors.

I'll post up how it goes incase anyone reads this. ha.

wh wouldnt you just by te conversion harness from rywire, get an obd1 dizzy, ecu and call it a day?

Yeah, that would be faster...

I'm in no hurry to get this 91 si hatch running. I went lookin for a new hood for my rex and came home with the 91 w/o a motor for $300. a local guy wrecked his 95 ex and sold me the D16Z6 and tranny for $200 (So I didn't need an OBD1 dizzy) got an si cable trans w/a brand new cluth in the box for $50.

It's just an extra project, i'll try something new and try to keep it cheap.

I got time...

the jumper harness and converting the ecu, aren't all that hard. I'm into the ecu and jumper harness about $70
$25 for the ecu at the junk yard
$16 for the chip kit and
$20 for the ecu conversion kit.
+ $8 for shipping

Instead of $80-$120 for a chipped P28 and
$50-$100 for a jumper harness.

I'm actually surprised how cheap this is working out... Takes a lot of fucking time to research everything since I'm used to gm and ford.

But couldn't resist getting me a honda...

So, anyone have any suggestions for a good, budget Header?

Right now I have a 91 D15 stock manifold on it just for start-up(it'll through an O2 heater circuit code, but should start just fine)
