Integra Guy
So far, its pretty much bone stock... with the exception of a no name cold air. I would really like to put a K20 in it, but for now, I'm trying to figure out if my b18b1 is worth toying with. I was gonna work on airflow to start with, header, exhaust, high flow cat, exhaust manifold, and a throttle body. But when my engine goes, I don't know whether I'll rebuild it or go with the K20. If I do, can I still use the same exhaust with some fabrication? Also, who make the best parts with the most gains? All this is very new to me. I've loved cars all my life, so I decided to get really into this shit. I used to have a 98 200sx 1.6L, but this is my first Honda and first project all together. I do wanna use my car as an everyday driver, but I want a fast everyday driver... without nitrous, and a supercharger or turbo I want to do last, as long as it doesn't kill reliablity. Thats key to me. I want my reliability, but I want a car with balls. Are JDM engines more reliable? How in the hell do I know if my car is OBD1 or OBD2? So many questions... and much to learn. Any help or advice on what to buy... if money were no object... well, maybe I don't want to spend over 15,000 in performance. I'm already dumping 4000 in body work and paint.

Yeah. You need to read alot. ALOT.

There are so many random thoughts and questions in that conglomeration of letters its unreal.

im with him read everything you can and make smart mods you have my favorite platform and if you do it right a very quick and reliable me personally i would do the k swap after you learn some more about hondas good luck and just start reading

Ok I would like to point something out.
You said you want to do exhaust manifold, headers, and a turbo

You have alot of reading to do, I throw you at the mercy of the refrence section:
Technical Articles and Reference - HondaSwap Forums

If you motor blows and you do put in the k20, if you have a cat back exhaust i dont see why you cant reuse it, I could be wrong not going to do all the research for you.

If you hell-bent on swapping in the k20, then you need to know this a k20 is going to be a hard swap so I recommended you do LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of research on the k-series motors as a hole and how to swap them into your car. and the motor you have now is a great motor.

You have a great motor now. Just look here and you can see what im talking about and answer your own question:
https://hondaswap.com/reference-materials/honda-engine-list-29128/

15k into performance is ALOT, i mean if you do your research and learn alot before you jump into buying something, you can probally have a great fast car for like 10k, spend the other 5 or so on a dd because your going to have alot of downtime, between swapping the motor doing your mods, fixing problems(you will have them PLAN FOR THEM!)

Also your jdm engine question I point you at the Honda engine list again and you tell me.... excatly you cant really, its all in the condition of the motor how it is treated... all that good shit.

Header = Exhaust Manifold

And, as Austin pointed out, you don't even use a standard header with a turbo anyway...

no no, I already know some of those parts I don't need obviously if I went with a turbo. The turbo is just a possibility down the road. But for some power now, I would be starting with some of that stuff. But yes, I know. I read this shit everyday. I spend most of my day on these sites pricing parts, reading about swaps, and believe me, there is alot I don't know and I don't even know where to begin. I've only ever done minor part replacements... very minor. I'm doing my homework though, I've learned alot from this site alone. I'm not doing the swap by myself, I need some help, but I'm not afraid to get wet... or spend money learning. But, I gotta start somewhere. Today I just learned that a type-r motor isn't great for boost because of the compression. Anyways, thanks for the replies and sites... I'll be doing my research.

or spend money learning
you should never spend money learning. you can learn by reading. save your money for upgrades, not repairs.

type-r motor isn't great for boost because of the compression
show me somewhere on this site that says ITR motors aren't good for boost. show me.

you are spending $4,000 on paint and body? you can buy a whole new car for that much. if your car is fucked, use the money on a new shell. shells cost about $1000 and engines cost $4,000. dont' spend that money on fixing something bad.

$2700 I'm spending to have the wheel whell rust fixed(of course) and some nice paint work done. $1400 I'm spending on a full body kit with a CL light conversion and a carbon fiber hood and type-r wing. Its not hard to find a shell around here, you can find nice integra shells. Since Wyo-Tech is 10 miles away, you've got alot of them around.... but very overpriced. Half of the ones you find are some shitty custom paint color and priced around 3500-4500. As for the Type-R not responding well to boost, I read that in a couple posts under integra. One was under "Will a Type-R motor fit into my 1994 GSR". The other one I found, I can't find, but as soon as I find it, I'll post it. It basically said that Type-R motors don't respond to boost as well as a GSR motor, though there are Type-Rs boosted out there. Most said that the motor had to be extensively built though. I'll find it.

Listen to what we're telling you right now. YOU CAN BOOST A TYPE R ENGINE! IT WILL "RESPOND" JUST FINE TO BOOST! The problem is, the compression on a Type R motor is fairly high, so it will be easier to blow up under boost. If you want to boost a Type R, then you just need to make sure it's tuned very, very well.

Oh, and I'd probably skip the CL front end, but that's up to you...

Why skip the CL front... just out of curiousity? Not a fan of its looks??? To be honest, I like my bug eyed look, but I figured what the hell. I'm guessing your a fan of a JDM front. Who knows what I'll go with. I liked the California Thunder Body kit from andy's auto sport, thats what kinda sold me on the CL front. But hey, actually, I do have a question. If I buy a JDM GSR engine, do I have to buy JDM specific parts for it, meaning will my aftermarket shit that I put on my USDM enigne fit it and my tranny as well?

Ok, don't waste money at all on a body kit. That's just fucking stupid.

Don't waste money on a k series swap. If you swap in a gsr you'll be more than happy with it. Swapping in a gsr is already going to be hard enough for someone that knows hardly anything.

Most of my swap is being done at a garage that knows their shit, I'm just gonna be there helping and taking it all in. I could just pay someone, get it all done, and be nothing more than a driver with cash, but whats the fun in that? This shit interests me. I make a 1000 a week, I think I can do what I want with the car. I've got an extra 3000 a month to play with. I want to do the engine first, but then again, my rust needs fixed and if I fix it, I want it totally done and painted... I don't wanna drive around in a primered car... thats just gay. Yeah, I read about the type-r being a tuning headache if you boost it... and since I'm new to this, I don't wanna take too many chances. I'm leaning toward a GSR swap, but its been done a thousand times over again, so we'll see.

The car looks decent now.... other than it being teal and the wheel well rust. The shell is in superb condition, I went over it yesterday. Interior is immaculate, looks brand new. Underneath it looks brand new. The only shit thing is the passenger side rear wheel well. Someone puttied the shit out of it... badly. it rusted, now theres a hole.

omg $1000 a week. you are such a baller. can i have your babies?

sheesh. anyways, i've asked this before, show me somewhere that says an itr can't handle boost. i challenge you.

also, if you make sooooo much money, why don't you get a real car instead of a stupid integra with a conversion. and if you like the tl front, why not just buy a tl?

buy a 98+ gsr man... you get the better looking front end less miles on the chassis and blade rims. Then you can drive that around with your aviators and a system and be a racer.

Or if you want to do a gsr swap in your 94 ls (lol) read the innumerable posts about people doin this on honda-tech/swap team integra superhonda and all the other goddamn forums.....
or
since you make a g a week (omfg...lmao) pay some one to research it for you.
Oh here!
Google?

or just put parts that say jdm on them and call it a drift car. as for swapping a gsr into ur integra. y pay and help. just read write ups on them and do it urself. its one of the simplest swaps i can think of specially into ur car. i got a buddy with that cl front end on his integra. its alright with the right paint but itll ruin the whole look of the car if its not aligned perfectly.

You can easily swap that front end and the rims onto the 94-97 models...that's what I've done to mine...
hahaha i know dude.

but he can call himself a tuner with his gsr

hell he could put an intake on there and call it custom.

This thread irritates as there are 1000s of swap articles all over the web.

/queue the "READING IS FUNDAMENTAL" pic lol
