That Guy....
What can i do that is not to expensive? Or what can i take off the car that will help out preformance wise...i have not much clue what i should do...any help...or any one from the spokane area want to help me out?

have you even done anything to the motor if not try putting an cold air intake upgrade the exhaust and maybe put a good set of plugs and wires on it but other than that look around some of the forms you might find something else you can do to it

if you can't afford anything, just practice driving. just pay for gas and learn the car. learn shift points, braking techniques, starting and stopping.

mods on a stock 17 year old hatch wont do shit. unless you get a motor swap or turbo, don't do anything.

everything these guys said are right i was told to take off the a/c compressor and take off the power stearing and get a smaller belt if u need it but yea i did that and i think it helped not a whole lot but gave me a lil more power um cold air intake they r pretty cheap ummmmm thats bout it well let me kno if u have n e thing else u wana know and with the a/c and power stearing it reduces weight and every lb counts when it comes to a race

if you are looking to lose weight on your car just rip out some of the inside but still its not goin to do much good unless you start saving up and do a motor swap or maybe a mini me swap

just learn.....thats all i am doing its hard when you dont have a job but you have to be in class all day

Yah, i have no power stearing already, there is ac, my main problem is a lack of knowledge of hondas. I have the chilton book, (told hanes is levels ahead of chilton) ut i have that, i read any mags. that i can get my hands on that have EF's in it. I want to get an intake, i dont know what i need to do that tho. Besides the pipe and the airfilter what else is needed? It is just a bolt on i believe. I hope to have a new car soon. I want an newer hatch, or coupe.

as for shifting...i usually shift 1st around 2-2500rpm, 2nd is around 4500-5000rpm, 3rd is 45-5000rpm, 4th is more around 60-70mph...that is just something i noticed. I listen to the motor and when it sounds like it needs to shift I shift.

I just want to learn. I have so much to learn, and a lifetime to do it. It is just hard when my only friend that "says" he is into cars, and hondas, the only thing he does is drive one. I want to find someone around spokane, or seattle(when i move there) to teach me, i want to work in a shop and learn anything that i can.....so till then i have HONDASWAP.COM to teach me 0.0

o yah btw i got new plugs and wires right after i got the car...and new oil...^_^

practice "rev-matching" and "heel-toe" techniques. (google it, don't ask what it is).

learn the shift points in your car. dont' worry about power mods yet. save for a suspension and some really good tires. they help more than just having more power.

thats a good start. a well maintained car is a happy car. it's the best way to get the most power out of your engine. crappy ignition and maintenence rob a lot of power.

so the "heel-toe" technique i will have to try doing that, but "rev-matching" i already do that i just decided that it sounded bad when the motor wound (when shifting) goin to "N" and then the RPMs would go to 500 then go back up to (what ever it would be depending on the gear) it sounded so violent and i didnt want to be doing that so i just started to rev it up when shifting for smoother shifts.

if that happens, then you are doing it wrong. hence your need to practice.

its all honda performance....it does a really good job of explaining peformance upgrades mostly

the only thing those intakes will do is make your car noisy. you wont get any power. but it's your $30.
