I have a 1990 civic hatch with an obd0 b18a1 in it its got a ys1 trans which is used on the b18a1 and the b17a1 its geared short for first and second and longer geared for the rest its got a spec clutch da integra axel's da integra front brakes da integra front knuckles a dc sports header and a da integra shift linkage with new urethane bushings idk weather i should turbo it with rods and pistons on a stock head on like 10-15 pounds for a little bit till i can build the head or if i should ls vtec it with a b16 head and like stage 2 cams, valve springs and retainers i'm looking for a mid 12 in the quarter and its going to be daily driven

You won't get get a mid 12 sec quarter mile with just valvetrain in an LS-VTEC.

Turbo the LS. Leave the head stock for now, then add a GSR head later for some really good power. If you build the bottom end, sleeve it now.

Giggity! Err, I mean, exactly what Matt said. You'll enjoy the LS/VTEC later on. For now enjoy the boosted LS. :D

well right now the car is gutted in the back and i said stage 2 cams too tuned and everything i didn't know if that would add enough to atleast get me into the 13's an all motor 13 quarter would be good for around my way and ls sleeves stock can hold 600 hp do i really need to sleeve it since i'm only shooting for like 15- 20 psi max? and should i just turbo it stock ls for a little till i can get the rods and pistons for it i'd only want like 6 psi first off to get used to it and it would be pretty fast with only 6.

It doesn't matter how much boost you run. PSI is not what you need to look at. And what is your source on a stock LS holding 600hp?

I think you need to do a little research in the FI forum on here. This has been covered dozens and dozens of times.

im doin a all motor ls vtec this winter. im doin 11:1 compression tuner toys rods and a skunk2 loaded head wit a port and polish on a 100 shot (direct port) and some day down the road get itbs

ls vtec wit ctr pistons 220hp 12.88 at 124mph wit a ok tune

Uhh, PSI is irrelevant. And you're right, stock LS sleeves will hold 600whp.. for one pass.

Take some advice (the smart thing to do) from someone who is in this process right now. TAKE YOUR TIME, BUILD THE BOTTOM END RIGHT (meaning sleeves, pistons, rods, necessary hardware, etc.) You WILL want more power.

After you've done this, get it to the pavement. LSD, mounts, axles, tires, traction bars, etc. will all help in traction. Do it right.

Um, stop acting like you know what you're talking about.

Cool, now what does this have to do with this thread?

i just wanted a street car for now not go all out around my way a 12 second car is very fast my friend had a stock ls in a eg coupe and was pretty much beating everyone around or atleast keeping up with them with a stock ls 6 psi on a 57 trim and full interior so i figured my stock ls in alot lighter car on 6 psi for now would be a little faster till i can get rods and pistons and put the boost to like 15 psi thats all i'd want and thats pretty much all i'd need around here for a daily driver and i won't do much else to it till i can get another daily driver and the car now probably runs a mid to high 14 the way it is with a stock ls with the gsr trans so it wouldn't take much more to get it into the 12's

You obviously didn't read a thing I said.

>>>>>PSI DOES NOT MATTER<<<<<

I don't know how much clearer I can make it.. On second thought, let me bold that and put it in red font for you. Better? Mmk. Good.

As I just said, PSI is irrelevant. It's all about the power the engine is making, right? Well start thinking that way. We don't go around saying "Johnny's CRX puts 16psi to the wheels."

You can get varying power levels on the same PSI level based upon the tune, internals, bolt ons, etc.. There are many different factors.

If I were you, I'd boost the stock LS. Stay around 220whp for reliability purposes, get a quality tune, and work on traction. Once you have that hooking up really well, then build the bottom end and shoot for some more power.

Iam New To This And i Was Wondering if a 98 ls block with p30 pistons with new rings..ls rods ..and the block is balanced and honed For 400 Buckz is that a good deal???? by the way what does honed mean??

alright listen man i'm not looking to go dyno it after i boost the stock ls but i know a stock ls can hold over 6 psi and psi does matter casue without boost i wouldn't be making any power i'd just have a turbo on it running no boost i just want a stock ls on 6 psi my friend had it and i'd be basically running the same set up no other bolt on's on it, just a ls with a log manifold 57 trim turbo ON 6 PSI with a front mount dsm injectors and it would be tuned on crome with like 2 and a quarter inch charge piping. idk how much power he made but i know he was running atleast a very low 13 with 6 psi and i'd have the same exact set up but in an ef

Yep, but you won't run exactly the same time. In fact, probably nowhere near it. There are too many variables. Are you going to have the exact same setup that he is right down to every nut and bolt? I don't think so. Do some research on compressor maps and try asking some questions again. If you know what a compressor map is, you will see why PSI doesn't really matter until you give exact specifications for a turbo.

i'm using the exact turbo that he was using the exact same size piping same size turbo and probably the same exhaust manifold, he bought a pos turbo kit from ebay and made it better and i'm doing the same thing buying the same kit and everything but putting the turbo kit on a ls thats in a gutted ef hatch if i don't sell it instead of a eg coupe with full interior, and i'm getting the same guy to tune it and he'll give me the same tune that he had cause its the same everything so if 6 psi on his swap made him run a low 13 then the same exact swap into an ef would make it run faster
