I have a cooked d16a6 in my wagovan, about to pickup a d16z6 complete minus tranny for 300 bucks, and was gonna drop it into my wagovan, sound like a resonable swap? i need to modify the injectors wiring harness right? ill be using the obd 0 d16a6 wiring harness on the new motor. and ajumper harness from ry wire. total ill be in to this project about 600 dollars... opinons welcomed :)

should work fine, that sounds like a pretty fun swap actually, just make sure you get the vtec subharness as well

and by vtec subharness you mean the one possibly from hasport? or the one I make from a junkyard harness and run the 3 wires to the ecu?

Does anyone have an exact diagram for the wiring that I NEED to do to the d16a6 wiring harness?? By chance?

Isnt there something I have to do to convert the injectors? I need to use the d16a6 wiring harness...? am I correct here? Im using;

d16z6 engine obd1
awd wagovan tranny
awd front axels,
obd0-obd1 wiring harness
vtec wiring subharness
4 wire o2 extender or thingy from ry wire.

Will this work? Or do i need the d16z6 wiring harness? or equil?

I have all of that except the ry wire stuff. just need to buy the stuff from rywire and I think ill be golden?? will be into this car 790 dollars with a 150 psi each cylinder d16z6 let me know thanks guys.

Yea it will work. you use the a6 harness.

as far as injectors are concerned you can swap over the obd0 injectors to the z6 intake and that's all you'd have to do. you could however use the obd1 injectors if you prefer. just remove the resistor box and solder the 5 wires that go to the box together. (4 red/black, 1 yellow/black). It will run exactly the same either way so its up to you.

I'm using Boomslang's obd-0/1 conversion harness (which has a integrated harness for VTEC and everything totally included, but Rywire's is great, too. It's the same thing. Just see which one's cheapest!

You will also need an OBD-0/1 distributor harness (or make one like in my signiture, OR just repin the connectors). You have to use an OBD-1 distributor. Hopefully your Z6 you just bought has one on it. If not, just find a Z6 dizzy.

The trans will bolt right up. If you can afford it, get a new clutch. (I'd recommend Advanced Auto's. They have lifetime warrantys, meaning when it wears out, get a brand new one- free!) Use all your same setup with the axles and stuff.. everything will go together fine.

Oh, and use the mounts from the A6 though. the EG's used a different mounts than EF's.

Sick sounds perfect!! Thank you guys for your help! I think im just gonna do the full swap and take pictures during it all then post a big add after so you guys can just see how it turned out? I dont have internet right now and have to use it at work lol so kinda gotta keep it dl. Thanks Guys and as soon as i get my wiring conversion ill start takin some pics :) im stoked!

you may have trouble bolting the intermediate axle shaft onto the D16Z6 block - may have to tap the holes

The d16a6 thats in its tranny bolts right up to the d16z6, as far as I know, correct me if im wrong, but its same bolt patern on both blocks?! and making it the same axle shaft I would assume? Any help on that??

Not to much left, I have everything just need to put it all together :) Will keep updated, I just got back 20 minutes ago from getting the crank pulleys off, thanks guys :)

just got the motor mount from drivers side d16a6 over to the d16z6 and all plastics and back together, just need to mount up the tranny, half shaft, and its ready to drop back in, and plug things in :) pictures coming soon!

My 88 AWD wagovan :(

So yesterday I just got the motor in, did all the pluging in of connectors and what not to get the motor up to a starting point. Cranked it over to build oil pressure. Then connect up the plugs and turn it over with no luck, it sadly sounded like the d16a6 i pulled out with no compression. I put in a d16z6 swapped over all the shiii anyways, the same motor i put in has no compression as well, the dealership i bought it from claimed it was from a car wreck civic and they compressioned it at 150 psi all cylinders :( needless to say the car came back 90,30,30,30 with its compression.. suckzors and now I have to pull it back out...
