Hi all.
Does anyone know if the 7th gen civic (2001+) can take a B16B or plus engine without any major modifications?
I have a 2002 Civic LX auto tran. and i'm thinking about getting a B16B engine and turn my auto tran. into manual. Is possible to do it?
Thanks you all for helping out :)

With money you can do anything, but as far as this swap, i think it will be way too much work, plus that car is heavy.

and it spins a different way it wouldnt work out i know k20 is a little pricey but thats what would work and the honda element motor and the crv try looking at some junkyards sometimess you'll luck out

Ok, time to correct a bunch of misinformation.

The B16 and the D17 spin the same direction.

A B16 would actually be an easier install to a 7G Civic because of the engine bay arrangement and the spin direction. The K20 is the difficult swap. Quite a few people have already put B series engines into 7G Civics, but it's only legal if you have a 2001. 2002+ would be illegal, since the B block wasn't produced past the 2001 model year.

hey guys what's up i have a k20 swap off a 2002 civic si 1700 legit if interested call me tito 848-702-2441

One question....for anyone who thinks it can be done....how can a b series motor be swapped in a 7th gen if the new k series engines are transverse? IMO i dont think it would be able to be done, correct me if im wrong please

Anything can b done if u have the money for it. Might not work all the time but it can b done.

The stock D17 in the 7G is still the same configuration as the old D blocks, so swapping a B block into it's place isn't as hard as everyone thinks. Dropping the K block in is where the challenge lies, unless you're running a 7G Civic Si- then it's a direct swap. All front wheel drive Hondas have transverse engine setups, by the way. It's the rotation direction of the crankshaft as well as engine position within the bay that matters, not the engine's orientation. I don't know of any longitudinal mounted engines in production FWD Hondas, do you?

I don't know anyone personally who's done it... but I know that it has been done, and that it should be easier than a K block swap.

Interesting, so you cant and can but since I want to swap my d17 imma side with calesta
buuut.. What mods would I need
a list of the parts I need for the swap would be appreciated, thanks =)

seen 3 cars with b18 swaps in Thailand , so yes thwe swap is possible

This thread is nearly six years old people. Next time, just start a new one.

As for the swap, no. It would be too much of a hassle. You would have to get completely custom mounts made. No one makes mounts for this like they do for the K-series swaps, and there's a reason for that (the reason being this swap is a dumb idea). The wiring for the newer engines is completely different, so therefore it would be a mess to try and get it running. Just save up for a K-series engine, or boost your D17. Those two options will probably actually be CHEAPER in the long run...

dude , you couldnt be more wrong. you cant swap a B series engine into a 7th gen civic. you find us one thats been done.

you call that an example? im talking your average consumer. ive swapped many many cars , its what i do. and there is no support for this swap. no mount kits , no shift linkages. would all have to be custom made. you would have to custom wire in a B series ecu to the car using an engine harness out of a 6th gen civic. anyways , whatever yas think.

to tell the average person(anyone online asking about it) you can swap a B series into a 7th gen is misinforming them big time , cause you cant.

Well then why not state it in the way that you just did rather then making it seem like it's flat-out impossible? That's all I'm saying...

And do you realize the post you responded to is nearly 6 years old?

haha not to blow your spot up or nothin but your kinda bein hypocritacal because you are posting on this ancient thread too haha

if the average person can swap a 63t and AWD out of a GSX into a 93-96 mirage im sure the average person can swap a fucking B series into a civic.

tell me which one is harder asshole. shutup. its been done MANY times.
