ok ive been reading treads for about 4 hours now and am looking for some more input. i have a 92 civic 4dr LX that im doing a swap on. im pretty sure im going to go with a B18 but im not sure which on to use the B or C. im going jdm and some day i may want to turbo it. is it worth the extra money, can the C be turboed just like the B, is either one harder to install or in need of more parts to install. please leave your feedback i want to do this right and dont want to regret anything later. thanks in advance.

Hey, 1st you need to decied what route ya want to go really. if this is just going to be a swap in kind of deal and drive around or is this gunna be the fun car u bring out friday night and go to the strip with... its a matter of what your goals are! Me I would go with the B not because its from cross the ocean blue, but because I like High Reving motors vs the C which is slightly less RPM's and HP... but thats me, the B will cost more imo but thats just me. Eather are just as easy to install if ya know what ya doing :)

im looking for a fun summer car, would like to go to the srtip but also would like to be able to drive it reliably more then one or two days a week. kinda want a sleeper but it doesnt have to be no 10 second car or nothing like that.

WTF? b18B revs higher and more expensive than the gsr?

i think you mistyped something there bud.

B18C(?) for whatever the hell you want it for. its much more power and fun. its a little more work since you have to wire in vtec, and other shit.ohh and get a P28 to run it but its much more fun.

Yeah, that decision is pretty much about the money. If you can afford a few extra bucks for the C, you'll enjoy a few extra horsepower.

Not trying to be a dick but if you dont have a clue about what your talking about it might not be the best idea to give advice

He knew what he meant just didnt type it right. i knew he was thinking about the B16 revving higher thean the 1.8 ltr.

he corrected the situation so its cool.

OP: if your on a tight budget, like really tight then i would go with the LS motor with a nice b16 tranny. drive that, save your money and get a vtec head and later build a mild lsvtec. It's n ot going t make a dent in your wallet because you slowly paid for it.

arp rod bolts,pr3 pistons, gsr cams. nasty little thing:ph34r: i had one at one time. that thing was fun in my crx. 174whp to embarrassed. to post the torque:D

maybe you mean the B16. just because its mad tYpE JdM Oy doesnt mean anything. just that your prolly going to pay more.

whats the difference in the jDm Ls motor?

i meant B18 jdm. would the b18 with the b16 trans and vtec head be as good as a C motor or far from it.

It actually has slightly more potential since it has a tad longer stroke. It's believe the B18C's have a slightly shorter stroke to make it legal in 1.8l race classes.
Also, my cousin with a rebuilt LS/VTEC(stock GSR head) is putting down over 180whp right now with bolt-ons, 11.5:1 Wiseco pistons, and tuning(by RLZ).

As far as JDM engines go; the main good thing about them is they usually have low miles.

also with that motor vtec built what is the advantage of having the b16 trans instead of the b18

its not worth it unless you have some of the main parts already. Like if you had the block and needed a head or vise versa. Even still slapping the head on it it wont be better than the GSR (b18C).

and just to make it last you have to upgrade the oil ans water pumps. then buy some gaskets and the conversion kit and the parts for the head if you dont have them. Your going to spend more money and time building it than if you were to spend it al at once and have a nice motor. I'm not against the LSV but its just safer to get something already built.

yeah i think mine would have layed down that much if it didnt have the stock crx exhaust:ph34r:. Bottom end had pr3 pistons and head studs. never knew what compression. bitch got beat so bad before i had it but ran for years even after i bought it...... until i put it in the dyno.

thats when i rebuilt the monster lsv:D
