i have a 91 hatch and i just put a new head on it 2 months ago and everything went really well i did everything stock used all honda parts no aftermarket stuff. i did a new cap and rotor plugs and wires and gaskets all around. the other day it started missin real bad. its been burnin a lot of oil to. time for a new motor? any suggestions?

sounds like the rings are bad,or check for oil in the spark plug cylinders,if the valve cover gaskets around the plug holes are bad oil will lea in there and itll miss hardcore

ok and if the rings are bad? re-build or new motor prolly huh. and what should my compression be for when i do that?

depends do the compression chec and throw the numbers up here,
if the rings are bad, change the rings, rehone the block and itll be set
unless it scored the cylinders

so i did the compression test today. aal the plugs were white when i pulled them out which my dad told me means its running hot. but heres the numbers
1- 125
2- 120
3- 100
4- 6!:(
so would it be cheaper to find a good short block since the head is brand new or pay someone to pull the motor apart and fix it? i can do the swap myself but not replacing rings.

are you sure its an issue with the block or rings? did you torque down the head properly when you put it back together? its possible you've got an issue with the head gasket

i did the head swap myself and it was built buy a friend of mine who owns a machine shop with oem parts. i torqued the head to spec. from my manual, i cant remember the exact numbers. i dont think its the head gasket bc i was super careful but who knows. i automatically thought it was the ring because its burning so much oil and it only has really bad comp. on 1 cylender. plus theres no oil in the water or water in the oil and it hasnt been heating up or anything. atleast not on my gagues. i think im gonna look for a short block though. anyone point me in the best direction for a new motor? i dont need performance its just a commuter.
