help engine problem

hey guys i am having a problem i was driving my car today and i was keeping a steddy rpm at 2500 and the car started loosing power and i gear down and and it still had the problem untill the i jump on the gas and rev it to 3500 to 4000 rpm ANY ideas what this could possibly be? bad timming maybe? i put a timming light on it appears to be in time, so any help would really be great right now.
 
I'd go with the fuel filter / pump... let me guess just driving, says 2800 RPM's but u just start going... slower and slower then it picks right back up??? if so fuel filter and pump.. my Car did that shortly before the fuel pump shit the bed on me!
 
the fuel filter is brand new, and yes about 2 to 3k rpms it starts going slower and i have to let off the gas and try to rev untill i get revs to 4 k then it runs fine, but i dont like driving in that high rpm, no it dosent pick back up it trys to stall if i keep giving it gas, then i let off and gear down and hammer on the gass then it will drive other wise it will start to stall and wont drive, i really do hate to rough drive the car so thats why im in need to get this fixed if any more info is avaliable leave a post,thanks every one for your imput

ok today i tryed to drive the car, started it and the idle starts surging up and down and i pulled it out of the garage and it has no power at all wont hardly move so i need some help i under stand that the surginh is due to the fast idle valve but could this also cause loss of power i give it gass and the rpms drop, i think its not fireing properly too cause geting when it gets to low idle it wants to stall. any help would be great cause i hate to buy new parts and it dosent fix my problem
