i've searched but couldn't find my answer. i need to know because if not then i need to give these back to the person i just bought them from asap or he won't take them back and refund my money. i bought the arp head stud kit 208-4305 which is for the y8. i have a 88 crx si with the a6 block and i'm going to do a mini me with a y8 head. will these work or not? i need to know asap please. and if they won't, exactly what do i need? thanks

it's going to be too late tonight to do it. that's why i'm asking, i need to know as soon as possible, i need help from somebody who know. please!

you need tem for the y8 i believe,,all the blocks have te sam thread, but the head has differant heights

I'm not sure where you are located but try calling one of the shops in California. It's only eight o'clock there. Most shops are still open until nine. That is the best thing I can suggest to you right now. Sorry I couldn't be of better help my friend.

i actually live in washington, same time zone as california, it's actually 7 oclock right now, i assumed everything closed by 5 or 6.

i'm looking at the y8 head studs and they're all the same length. then i look at the inside of the head where the holes are for the studs and 1 is like half an inch or so shorter. i happened to come accross an article on dseries.org that says you have to get a custom kit when using a y8 head on an a6 block. does anybody know anything about this?

Sonofa...I suck man. I'm at work and really tired right now. My math skills suck too. haha I would try anyway. You never know.

EDIT: I heard that before, but again, it was all hearsay. I am not sure what truth it holds.

Dunno if this will help but i can tell you that when doing a y8 on an a6 bottom end and retaining stock parts, you can use 9 a6 head bolts, but 1 of them must be from a y8. the one nearest the vtec solenoid to be precise. you can't tighten the head down in that one spot with an a6 bolt because its too long. So basically the y8 bolts are shorter. whether or not all arp d16y studs will work to secure the y8 head to the a6 bottom i cannot be certain. i thought i read somewhere awhile back that arp sold a kit for doing just this swap, but i'm not sure.

YES! THAT'S IT! My stupid ass couldn't remember that. I swear I'm so tired. That's EXACTLY what you have to do OP.

Thanks for posting this, D16. Rep!

i did a little searching..

and it looks like you need a different kit. ARP part #208-4301

ARP Head Stud kit D16Z6 or A6 with Y8 Head

I'm thinking that within this kit you will get 9 a6 head studs, and then 1 y8 head stud. So basically you only need one bolt from the kit you have currently. I'd return the kit you have to the person you purchased it from.

 Great job once again.

yeah, unfortunately that's what i'm reading now. before i didn't research it a bunch because everybody just said "use the kit that coincides with whatever head you're using" so yeah. i'm texting this guy but he's not responding back to me. i really hope he doesn't flake out on me considering i had to drive forever to get these brand new in the packaging for $80. unless, do any of you guys want them? i'll sell them for $80 and you pay for shipping, shouldn't be too much. thanks a lot you guys

Though the post for selling something should be in the for sale/trade section, I am curious, your ARP studs are for a straight Y8, correct?

yes, a straight y8, complete brand new kit. i literally just took off the packaging to check it's contents. possibly somebody has an a6 kit and we can swap all except 1?

even if someone had a6 studs and happened to need y8's, what would they do with 9 out of 10 head studs lol. best of luck to you though on selling em and gettin the right kit

If I only had faith in Y blocks I would be all over them. Unfortunately I'm using a Y8 head and a Z6 block and am nowhere near to figuring out what I need for it. I'm too busy with my other build.

I'm sure you will sell them though. Just make sure you list them in the for sale portion of the site. Someone out there probably needs them.

i just put in a 95y8 vtec on a 97 honda ivic dx :pand now that i got my car back everything seems okay except 3rd gear grinds a loittle bit it gshifts fine but it grinds a little what can this be please help
