I'm lookin at h2bkits and I notice most of them say you can't use h22 blocks. Why?
 
it says the h22 block out of the SH prelude whats the difference
 
the article or url to the site you're looking at would help. You're trying to put a h22a into a civic right? if so more than likely the h2b kit you're looking at should work. but like i said, we need the site you're looking at would help us figure out what you're trying to do.
 
+1 for a link. If an "H2B" wouldnt work with an H22, then it wouldnt be a real "H2B" kit. :shrug2:
 
what h series motor are you intending to use? if you're using a jdm h22a from years 92-96 then it should work. the prelude type sh is from the 97 and up prelude i believe.
 
I don't get what's so difficult here. Don't use an engine from the Prelude SH. Any other H22 is fair game. It probably has to do with that traction system the SH Preludes had, the ATTS. The engine was a bit different to accommodate it...

I was simply asking. What is the difference in the blocks. I already have my motor so "just using the right block inst that easy. But thanks to those who clarified the difference
 
jeez... where were you when I sold my H2B dropout lol.

Basically you can use any F/H block minus the H22 that was fitted for the SH as everyone else was saying. A turbo F series would be more powerful and more reliable if your keeping the engine stock though.

I know you can get one of those kits cheaper, I had a QSD kit that went really well that I bought as a dropout for less than 2000 with an LS cable transmission and ED/EF mounts with a light weight aluminum flywheel, with a 93 or 94 JDM H22a

Also if you get the kit make sure the flywheel is the same material as the spacer. The metals supposedly expand at different rates if they don't match and I'm told will loosen your flywheel bolts.

well do you have the sh prelude block? is that what you plan on using?
 
are you building the type S?

I don't get this "I'm getting a Type R and building it up" thing cause you can just get something else for less and replace everything on the inside and get the same engine if you were to build the Type S.

Not that it has any relevance but I traded it for my built single cam turbo swap. And yes i'll do minor things to it but it's not the fact that I had to have the type a. It's just what I found when I traded I'd have taken a regular h22 as well but I got a nicer one I'm going to built the head with came and springs and what not but that's a out it plus intake exhaust and b tranny
