well thanks to all of the good advice from u guys all the kinks are out and she runs great, but.......its not enough power.
as usual hienzsight 20/20 but now its time to get into the real issue. the vtec b16a is a great engine especially in the top end. but the torque leaves abit to be desired. so my question is how far can i bore this block and what other methods can i take to achieve optimum torque with this engine. please keep in mind that i want as much torque as i can pull out of this engine while keeping it n/a.
lucky me the cops pulled my licence :fr:so what better time for a build, i have all year lol

Why dont you sleeve it if you wanna bore it. After sleeves go for an 84mm bore. your kinda limitin yourself without F/I.

i know nothing about machining so i guess my real question is what are my limitations with boring (how much displacment can i achieve) and what part setup should i be looking for to achieve the most torque
the reason i dont want boost or s/c is because the last thing i want is my V8 buddys saying "well your cars boosted of course its faster" i want to beat them by getting as much power out of the engine and by reducing the weight wherever i can "ya dig" what can i say its silly but it must be done!!!!!

thats what im looking for, thank you, so does that mean that the most displacement you can achieve is 1900cc?and how little torque would i be looking at with that? lol

ya i realize that but right now im at step one, the bottom end, i wana make sure i dont over look any possible availible power, i want to get EVERYTHING out this engine.

If Your Gong N/A You Wont get Much......trust me And its Expensive.

Why does this not surprise me?

Lol, no joke.

To the OP, your lookin at it all wrong. Your not gunna beat any V8 because of torque. Your gunna beat it with high revving horse power. Your gunna need boost or compression. Take your pick.

eagle H beam rods,arp hardware,oem beaings,
higher compression pistons,headwok,stage1-2 cams,dual spings,and a tune,
you do not need to bore the motor any,

OP: Good luck to ya. Honda's only make decent torque numbers when turbo/supercharged. If I were trying to do this, I'd go turbo and just select a small turbocharger that will spool extremely quick. Pair this with the aggressive gearing of the B16 tranny, and you have a pretty quick little car.

Look at it this way, to use that Crower kit and build the whole engine right with supporting mods, you're looking at (ballpark) well over 5k. All that and you still wouldn't be making the power you would have with a simple turbo setup.

my friend bought a stock jdm d15b and did a LOW budget yet nice and clean turbo setup using a t25 turbo, hondata s100 and a decent tune and was making 200whp (not sure of torque, maybe 140 or so)at 12psi
the new engine, DIY kit and tuning ran him like $2500

20hp gain in n/a mods you could get 100 with a turbo kit spending the same amount of money
thats just the mind set anyway

i agree with what you are all saying about turbos being the best bang for your buck and that you beat v8 with high revs. But for me its about making the engine "be all that it can be" and learning along the way. I have all year and some decent coin to spend so why not take the time and see what i can do. beside it really intrests me to see what i can get out of a 1.6L engine. Does anyone have any real info on what kinda of numbers "can" be produced with a very well done, n/a b16a.
p.s. my licence was pulled for driving with expired insurance. three f*ckin days expired!!! B.C. rules SUCK!!!
