A lot of this is going to be happening. But, bad econ aside, I hear that this store and stores like Staples, Office max, etc. do more business online anyhow. I guess it just wasn't enough.

Are Circuit City's extended warranties affected by the liquidation?

  • No. Circuit City Advantage Protection Plans® (extended warranties) have been backed by third-party independent companies for more than 15 years and as a result, are not impacted by Circuit City's closing.
  • Currently, all Circuit City Advantage Protection Plans are fully backed by the Assurant Solutions companies. Assurant Solutions operates as Federal Warranty Service Corporation, Sureway, Inc., and United Service Protection, Inc. Assurant Solutions is part of Assurant, Inc. (NYSE: AIZ), and its extended service contacts are backed by an Assurant insurance subsidiary rated A "Excellent" by A.M. Best Co.
What if a customer purchased products at one of the closing stores and the product needs service?

  • For products covered under the manufacturer's warranty, customers should call the manufacturer.
  • For products covered under Circuit City Advantage®, guests can call the toll-free number that is printed on the bottom of the product receipt.

I'll probably go mozey by there after work tomorrow just to see if the sales are really all that great. i'd love to pick up a 50" dlp 1080p tv, but i doubt the prices will be that amazing for me to justify purchasing one lol.

Lets hope they are as good as my freind that works there claims they are going to be! I would like to sneak out of there with a nice set up for under a grand :) after all I got a new idea for my DD :p

One of the stores by me closed about a month ago and they had some awsome deals. They started like 10 days out and had 90% off then went down 10% every day. On the last day at close to noon they announced over the PA 10$ for any 10 items regardless of the original price. I got a few 1gb memory sticks a backup battery suply for the computer and some blank dvd's and cd's.

this couldn't be anymore true. i am giving it a year before it goes bye bye and that sucks cause i work for them.

I can never find what I want at CC or BB; I end up shopping online. The last thing I bought from BB was a TI89 calculator like a year ago; mainly because I needed it right away. :)

I went to the CC by me when they were at 70% off of everything and I was looking at getting all the car audio install items like kits & harnesses and what not, they said they would rather see it go to the little independent shops because they knew that the consumer really wouldnt buy it up. Well I tried to wheel n deal with them and they wouldnt budge on anything. Like they gave me a price of, example: $10 per item roughly 400 pieces left. So you do the math.$4000, I said no way. I said you guys are liquidating the store. You guys need all this stuff gone. So I low balled and said $1 per item. They said nope we will just send all this to another store if it dont sell here. I said the whole idea is to get rid of everything, not ship it to another store. So I left my number with them and said call me once you talk to the liquidator and you guys are bout ready to close this store for good.

GOD DAMMIT! I just bought a new tv as well... fuckers.. At least I got a semi-good deal on it.

And I'm gonna see when my local CC's are closing down... there's like four within 20 miles of me, so I gonna raid the shit outta them bitches.

Btw.. my tv i got is a 37" Sylvania for 549.xx with tax came out to about 612.xx or so... compared to the other choices I had I made a good buy, but now I'm just pissed off when finding that CC is shutting it down...

Best Buy isn't in the same situation...

Their books are far more solid than Circuit City's.

If you work at BB you should know that the stores were growing up until about a year ago. BB may be in a decline and may close weaker stores, but they won't be going out of business.
