hi, im new to all this swap business and am a little confused as to what i will need to do to get my swap to work, i have a 1990 EF civic DX with a d15b2 dpfi, i have purchased a d15b7 mpfi from a 1993 del sol. all the threads and info i have found pertaining to the dpfi-mpfi swap involve head swaps and si dizzies.
my question is... with a complete d15b7 mpfi transplant, do i just need to follow the wiring steps on this thread https://hondaswap.com/swap-articles/dpfi-mpfi-writeup-49557/ and can i use the ecu from my d15b2??
thanx in advance for any help offered

my engine needs a head gasket and multiple oil seals, the gasket kits (top and bottom end) are $260 CAD, and i got the engine, trans and ecu for $320, my engine has 294xxx km and the b7 has 186xxx km, i was and probably will just swap my intake, distributor and cam onto the b7 to meake it a b2, but it would be really nice if i could figure out how to hook up an obd1 to a obd0 car (so i can install a strut bar) , so its just the wiring (i think) that is holding me back. in short i would like to no how to wire up obd1 and then perform a dpfi to mpfi wiring upgrade.

You can make it MPFI and still run it OBD0. You will be happier with the MPFI anyway.

There are a ton of articles to do it. Keep it OBD0 and just change your fuel.

please correct me if im wrong but from what ive gathered, in order to use a d15b7 obd1 engine in my obd0 dx i will need an obd0 Si distributor?? i currently have only the harness in my car and no other? can i use the 02 sensor from my b2 on an mpfi engine?
do you by any chance have links to the info i need?
also can i look at my swap as if it were a d16a6 swap or is the wiring different?

This swap is easy as hell. Swap all the stuff from your stock block to the new one. The dizzy, intake, exhaust, coolant bypass tube( on the back). And the timming belt side motor mount braket and the engine harness. This swap works both ways. Dont do the mpfi swap till your ready and have all the parts. These block as basicaly the same aslong as you swap it all over you will be good. Ive done it 4 times so far and they all worked out great.

to swap the D15B7 into your car:

1. swap the driver's side engine mount that bolts to the block from your B2 onto the B7.

2. use your DX engine harness and make the DPFI to MPFI wiring changes to it - use this guide: FourthGenHatch - you can rob the fuel injector connectors from the B7 engine harness

3. you will need an injector resistor box and 88-91 CRX Si, 88-91 CRX HF, 89-91 Civic Si or 90-91 Civic EX distributor - the B2 distributor will not work with the MPFI and the B7 distributor will not work with OBD0 ECU - you will need a round 7-wire distributor connector from any of the above cars to swap onto your B2 harness in order to plug in the distributor

4. you will need the 88-91 CRX/Civic Si ECU - PM6

5. your B2 engine has the cooling fan switch on the back of the block next to the oil filter - the B7 engine has the cooling fan switch on the thermostat housing - you will need to splice the connector for the switch from the B7 onto your B2 harness

6. the D15B7 has the purge control solenoid located on the back of the intake manifold - your car has the purge control solenoid on the firewall to the right of the MAP sensor - use the one on the intake manifold - hose runs from solenoid to the charcoal canister

7. use the exhaust manifold and 1-wire O2 sensor from your B2 on the B7

You do not have to do the multi point swap. Why is every body say that it has to be done. TAKE ALL THE COMPONENTS FROM YOUR B2 BLOCK AND PUT IT ALL ON YOU B7 BLOCK. DONE. NOTHING ELSE.

i don't believe anyone has said that it has to be done - the responses were to his original question which was, and i quote: (emphasis in red are mine)

to which George777 replied:

which is correct - no need to go to the extra expense to convert to OBD1 unless you have VTEC or are planning to boost it

You still dont need to go odb1 if you go vtec. Just run it stand alone with a vtec controller. It's faster and cheaper. All you want is to activate the vtec solinoid at around the stock rmp and call it a day. Or you can do it with an rmp switch and a relay. Your using the tach signal to activate the solinoid.
