i have a 91 civic hatch with the d15b and a manual trans. is it possible to pull the motor with out the tranny? if so how? please help asap

im smart enough to figure that out thanks but the pully hits the fender well and i cant get them seperated enough to pull it out

im not sure then ive never had a problem. but i have found its easier to just pull it all out at once together

im on my first "swap" right now, from what i have been told and seen its better to pull the whole motor/tranny in one swoop. if you need info on popping your ball joints (which is a pain) or whatever just pm me ill walk you through how we did it.

motion seconded, and motion carried, pull the motor/trans together lol.

and also to the guy above ^. ball joints are not all that difficult if you have a pickle fork with an air chisel attachment :p

oh ya, we had several of those laying around...i just felt it better to wedge a breaker bar in there and jump on it. you know...for shits and giggles.:D

I've pulled a engine with out the tranny once. We had to force it out though, remove the harmonic balancer, but I've gotten it out before. Will I choose to do it again? no. I'd rather put the extra motion to pull the cv's and and shifter and be done.

so stop being lazy.

pulling them out together is way easier,I take mine out from the bottom. Then just slide it out with one of theseYahoo! Image Detail for www.toolrage.com/ProdImages/AST-5820.jpg

yeah thanks for all the advice. i went and bought a chain hoist and hooked it to a beam in my shop rafters. after i wised up and pulled them together it was a breeze. only one hitch, i forgot to swap the japanese engine mount(the one under the cam gear)with the original one from my car. they had differant angles. so i had to pull the crank pulley and timeing chain cover and swap them over, other than that no problems at all. this was my first full motor swap and i loved it! i think im hooked. my next task now is to start be-building the old motor

i just jack the car up high and roll it out on a skateboard. sounds wack but hey, works for me and my friends
