Not sure which way to go here. Obviously both will cost me some dough buy i drive 40 miles a day and im not sure the zc with zc tranny will hold up with a turbo even a small dsm t25. The Kill "B" on the other hand doesn't really have the torque i would like. What i would really like is to have 2 cars. lol

So what do you guys think? anyone out there with a EF obd1 b16?
Opinions, concerns...
thanks.

i have a mini-me i built and it is alot cheaper to build belive me. i already looked into the b motor. and with the turbos you will be very pleased with what you have and if you want you can always go up grade. the zc tranny will hold up i have the hf in mine and its fine and it has about 150k on it too. the only thing with the d blocks you have to worry about is the stock internals. if they are up there in mile go low boost and try not to push over 200whp with it. or else a rod will be through your pan.

Reliability is my main concern. Are you sure i can drive that thing at 3800 rpm for half an hour twice a day?

yes i am sure i do it at like 4k. if you rebuild the morot just remember to break it in properly and you can sit at that rpm all day
my old d block had 160k on it and started every time i went outside

i had the XSi engine in my crx for a while, I would go with a mild built turbo D any day than a stock B. Plus staying d series is cheaper, and easier to find engines for less.

you think i would have to build the engine much to run a dsm t25. i wanted to just do a DIY setup. i have some parts so far but as far as internally... i don't know. low comp pistons and rods?

i know its a week later. but.

a dsm t25 would do fine for the engine. and running it stock would be fine so long as you do not push the limits of the engine.

getting it tuned is the biggest thing though. I wouldn't try to push to close to the 200hp barrier since that seems to be the breaking point of most stock d series, even though some people have attained more.

keeping it low cost would involve some research though if you were to build it though. LS rods and Vitara pistons is what i usually hear people use for those builds. Look into it.

Many d's will take over 250whp stock, jus tmake sure when you get to that range that the tune is perfect.

Pretty much all Honda engines live over 3000-4000rpm all the time on the highway. You'll be fine. I drive my wife's SOHC ZC for hours at at time on the highway pushing 4000rpm the whole way and don't have any problems with it.

Werd.

My CRX has the ZC swapped in it, and highway driving for long periods of time isn't a big deal spinning 3500-4000.

Don't know if the D-series transmissions are like the B-series ones, but you could look into swapping out the 5th gear like lots of people do with the B16 tranny.

i had on3 bout 4 months ago jdm b16a w/ type-r cams obd1 and it still running in the street cus the dud3 i sold it 2 h3 liv3s down the street from m3

Yeah- you can- there are a good number of bastardized D series transmissions running around with mixed up gear ratios. I intend for mine to be one of them sometime soon.
