Ok i have a 1993 eg and have been thinking about a swap, what i read was any b series teg motor is a direct bolt in. So i was thinking b18c5 because i am looking for most power with a smooth ish swap seeing as the garage i do it in will only be able to be used over one weekend. Until i was recently told b18c5 does not bolt in and is hassles is this true? and if so b18c1 was my next choice seeing as i know its a direct swap. I tried to find info on the internet but its not to easy. So was kinda looking for advice on A) a good swap and B) info on what parts are needed ex: what axles throttle cable rad hoses ect. and maybe some tips around the hassles , sorry if i come off noobish i am a technician myself just new to the honda world :)

well if your gnna use the b18c1..then its vtec and unless your cars wired for it then you will need to run the vtec wire..as for what you need...you need the integra shift linkage, axles, and motor mounts.....as for the wireing you would have to use the gsr wireing harness....and it is basicly a drop in..motor bolts right up...exaust i would change because the stock civic exaust is like 1 3/4 i belive so its to small..2" or 2 1/2 is good....let me knoe if you need anything else...g/l bro

More wiring and changes w/ the c5 but depending on what route you wanna go, your budget, power goals, a number of things depends what would be best for you. B series motors are pretty much bolt in directly - I definitely reccomend the integra mounts (I think they seem a little stronger naturally) or aftermarket b series mounts like hasport.

throttle cable should be fine, use any 94-01 integra axles or go ahead and hit up raxle.com for a set. Radiator del sol vtec dual core 1 1/4 in (32) mm inlet/outlet also should be same on 99/00 civic si radiator - hoses for same car - Regardless of Turbo or N/A you will want to use at least 2 1/2 inch exhaust - name brand or muffler shop special don't really matter for now most likely - look at your bolt ons for the motor.

if your car was non vtec you may consider rywire.com also

so ive been looking at engines on jdmsource.ca website prices seem reasonable from what other sites i shopped and for 3,465.00 i get Engine,Transmission, ECU ,Alternator ,Air Conditioning ,Power Steering Pump ,Distributor ,Wiring Harness and for an extra 100, Axles and Shift Linkage is that worth it or no,and GSR axles and shift linkage will work ?

thats to much go on ebay hmotorsonline.com and try then they should be cheaper..and yea gsr axels and s/l will work..and you will need the integra throttle cable my friend has the civic one..it orks but i think it looks crappy

so i was also wondering what would be the advantages or disadvantages of doing a b16a swap isntead of the b18c1 besides less money for the b16 is the price jump for the b18c1 worth the 10 horse in the end witch one is more likley to perform better with a couple upgrades?

b18c1 will outperform any b16a, period. The b16a's head flows much better, but the gsr compensates with 1.8 liters of displacement, more torque and a broader power band. The b18c1 engine has more potential, especially turbocharged.

i would go with the gsr (b18c1), you can get a full swap for around 2,000 just look around online. i wouldnt bother with the type r (b18c5) if i were you, the price is high (around 5,000 i think). what were you planning to do with the motor after you got it?

Not if it has been built, or is boosted, or SC'ed.

This thread is eight months old, pretty sure he has made up his mind by now.
