I smoked a cigerette! I woke up and decided I was done with smoking.

I will say it's easier then I thought. However I still want one some kind of bad! I have been chewing gum ect... Anyone else stop smoking? What helped you get through it?

Somebody please tell me it's gonna get easier!

it gets easier with time... although the associations are hard to break (ie: while driving, after eating, when drinking, etc)

try chewing on coffee stirrers

ditch your smoking buddies and buy yourself a stress ball.

it gets harder then really easy.

its too bad I started up again.

for real, driving and while drinking will be VERY hard for me to stop if i decide to quit.
ive pretty much stopped doing it after i eat though.. that used to be the only time i smoked.

but it will get easier.
i started smoking when i was like 15 for a few months, then i was like why am i smoking? so i stopped for like a year then i was like, why did i stop? and have been smoking ever since.

just get it in your mind that smoking is not an option. that will make it tremendously easier.

twice now i have quit, first time for 6 months, second time for 8 months...its hard to kick. im going to give it a go tomorrow. good luck.

did his story inspire you?
lol

oh, and keep yourself busy!
that goes for kicking just about any habit or urge though.

I went two and a half days up until about 4 hours ago I have had two...Im still going to keep up with trying to quit. I may go with the cig tea.

days 5-8 are the worst for me. the first few i'm motivated, etc etc
then, it gets to the point where, 'see, i can quit.... i'll just have one cuz i'm bored'.

repeat::

lol

I'm at that point now! I keep thinking all I is just a drag!

The stage I'm at now is like....Where is the ashtray? I'll find me a butt, and light it up!

That's horrible, but true!

that's the truth. For me when I decide to quit I can usually go about 6 months. Then complacency sets in and I start thinking sillyness like "I haven't had a cig in months I've done what I set out to do". Then the back slide starts, one here one there, then before I know it I'm sucked right back in.

My downfall when trying to quit was my interaction with people. It didn't matter who it was or what they were saying. I would snap at them. I had no patience, little motivation, and was scatterbrained. I envy the people that make it look easy.

I quit cold turkey about two years ago. I decided to wait until my wife was out of town to avoid any of the inadvertant mood swing/snapping problems that could happen. For me the biggest part was avoiding the cravings in the morning and at night before bed (sleeplessness). So I took some Advil PM at night to sleep and had an energy drink in the morning for about the first week. I also reccomend scheduling a dentist appt for a cleaning. I avoided situations where smoking was involved and it worked pretty well. I must say the most interesting thing about the whole process was the really whacked out dreams that I would have which I guess is very normal. I have done fairly well and have only had a few occassions where I have "slipped" for example I will have one every now and then when hanging out witht he guys or when I am at the ski hill....

Never started. I have asthma, but just about everyone around me does. If you stop smoking, you'll make people around you very happy. Trust me. Your car, your house and you will smell a lot better. People around you will respect you for quitting, and you'll save an assload of money. My gf's mom bought a Rendezvous for the cost of smoking. Too bad she started up again. Don't know if you have kids, but I blame my mom for my asthma. It's not fun, or cheap. I've been admitted to the hospital 8 times in my life for asthma related things. pneumonia once every few years, bronchitis every year, albuterol treatments every few days. If no one else, help them out.

every time you want a cigarette, shove it up your ass. you wont want to be near them anymore :D

having not read many replies do this:

get s bag of dum-dums.

the biggest habbit for you to break is what you do with your hands, you are in the habit of holding and moving the cigarette to you lips and shit.

use suckers as a substitute.

i quit cold turkey as soon as i found out i had cancer.. lol.. i may have the occasional one if drunk enough

I tried to quit myself, I get really iritable, i snap at people over stupid things, and I just have no paitence. Quiting is not for me, not now anyways.
