Howdy all, my first attempt at import wrenching, i have the above car as my commuter, blew a head gasket or head and needed a fix. Attarco hat a replacement eng for 400. way better than the 1200 for the parts and labor for a head rebuild at the local metal maniacs. SO how do i get this bad boy out and back in? Book says out the top, buddy's all say out the bottom? I usally work on my 4x4 and until now have nickel and dimed my import at the local shop to avoid embarassment. This project is mine if i want to keep money in my pocket. Thanks for the pointers and tips. i did search around but nothing was jumpin out at me. Mark

thanks all, i can see why this forum was reccomended to me. 16 views and no posts.. i will do what i can do. Have a great summer.

Have you searched for any write-ups on this? There's plenty of "how to" articles on engine removal to be found on the Internet. Just a general article on engine removal will give you the basics, and then you can come back and ask more specific questions.

Just to give you a heads-up though, yes, pulling the engine up from the bay is probably easier (unless you've got the means to jack the car up high enough to get the engine out from underneath). Also, if you can find a write-up for pulling the engine from a 94-97 Accord it will work for you, since they're essentially the same chassis and the exact same engine.

less common swaps will get less views. most people are unfamiliar with the CL. most of the honda swaps that are done are with civics/crx/integra.

if you want to avoid cost, invest $45 into a helms manual. it's what the dealerships use.

as for your swap, i would suggest getting a cherry picker and a good set of tools. the only time i take the engine out of the bottom is when i have a lift and it's a light engine.

get air tools if you can. it will make it a lot easier.

why are the cl's even inclued in this part of the forum?
they're so much like an accord(motor, suspension, interior) they should be grouped with them, wheres a mod when you need one?

The mods and admins set up this forum in the way they thought was appropriate, so I really doubt bitching about it to them is going to get you anywhere since this is the way they intended it to be.

And do you realize that you brought back a thread that's been dead for the better part of a year now to make this idiotic observation? Congratulations, tard...
