ok, i blew up my supercharged b16. just blew the piston rings i think. so now im smokin like a bitch and burnin oil. im going to put new pistons, rings, valves, springs, rods, and probobly bore it out. does anyone have any advice or stories from experience on what brand/type of parts i should buy?
are forged pistons good for a b16? and what about moly-faced rings?
im runnin a jackson racing supercharger with 8 lbs boost.
thanks for the help.

chances are you blew up cuz you are using the FMU setup.

consider hondata, some 440cc's and a good tune next time:)

as for the build up-- it really depends on what the hell happened to the block. if you melted a piston, your sleeves my be skoured (sp?) and you might have to bore it deep. it might be too much even, and may require a re-sleeve. you'll have to tear it apart and look at it to find out.

what's your budget looking like? because thats really what this comes down to...

FMU setup? hondata?
and my budget is probobly around a couple g.
its still driveable right now, and i am driving it.. its just lacking horsepower.. so im guessing its not too terribly tore up. i can still beat most EX's i see, just not as badly :).

fmu = fuel management unit.. its basically a fuel pressure regulator that you use to rough tune the car for when you boost it.

Hondata is a piggy back system that plugs into the ecu and is fully tunable. For more info on it, check out www.hondata.com.

here's some advice...sell your supercharger, it aint doing you any good....stroke it and build it all motor like a honda should be..... :worthy:

Ignore the post above me. See how much to bore it to (84mm maybe? Nothing wrong with a B16-->B19 :)) Hondata is a system for the air/fuel management, and pretty much just engine management in general. Look into JE or Endyn pistons, and Crower or Eagle Rods. As far as upgrading the valve train, I haven't heard anything negative about Toda or Skunk2.

he's got a supercharger, some of those parts you listed are for NA

boring would require re-sleeving, which is much $$, but more displacement is always nice.
Toda and Skunk2 cams are both for NA, i would suggest some GSR cams, or i've also heard good things about web cams.
hondata would be a good choice for you also.
for pistons, get something that has a lower CR than what you are at now, maybe 9-9.5:1, endyn roller wave is a great choice.
rods are another good move, and if you do all of the above, you can run more psi.

no way. don't drop you rcompression. doing so will only make you slower.

compression = power. Na, or boosted.

while higer compression has this big ring around it that you can't boost it- well, hello and welcome to standalones. the days of boosting 8.5:1 motors is gone.... and so is fmu's.

ya, you can drop tons of boost high CR motors, have fun blowing it up.
and how are these "days" gone? a standalone will help tuning, yes, but you'll spend a ton of money on dyno time, and i said 9.5:1, not 8.5:1, this is only a supercharger we're talking about :)
