anyone use geico? any problems with them with claims, etc?

I'm current on progressive and they've been nothing but great for me.

However, now that i have 3 cars fully insured, my premiums are getting up there. So, i decided to take a look around.

my renewal due 4/1 for progressive is $1633 with $1000 deductible for 6 months.

i ran a quote at geico, and my 6 month premium with the same coverages, but a $500 deductible is only $983.50.

$700 difference, $1400 a year. wow. plus the 50% lower deductible!

so, i'm probably going to be changing... but not if it means i'll get lesser service or hassle with claims.

both times i've needed progressive (in 05 when the sti got vandalized and in 08 when the m got rear ended) my claims were filled the next day without question.

have you had good experience with geico?

what about allstate?
my homeowners is through allstate. I'm probably going to call my rep on monday. when i bought the house all i owned was the M and they "wouldn't insure just a supercar" but he told me that if i picked up a 2nd vehicle that he could get both on there for me. now with the 3rd, it shouldn't be an issue at all. And with multiple discounts of the multiple cars plus the dual plan, i might get even a better deal out of it.

you will get hassled with claims, they are assholes, and like to just randomly forget when your insurance is due,my mom pays 4mnths on 2mnths off, well they fell behind a month, thought she was supposed to pay, dropped herr insurance, never sent the compliance, but then asked her why she dropped insurance, well then dmv had a problem with her driving an uninsured vehicle, dropped the reg.and each mnth charged her $200,when she new nothing about it

I have to say that Progressive is the best I have had to deal with both when I was/wasn't a customer I was treated very VERY well when making a claim, they're not the cheapest but you get what you pay for when/if you need them.

i use farm bureau, havent had any problems or misunderstandings.

I have a company called Deerbrook and it turns out they are a branch of AllState. When someone had a blow out on the freeway and I ran the damn tire debris over, I did a road hazard claim the next day and all i had to do was find a shop I wanted to do the work and AllState took care of everything else. I didn't even have to pay my deductable till the work was complete and I was satisfied with the work. My rate didn't go up after the claim either.

I pay $87.50 a month for full coverage on my Mazda and liability on my BMW. That's for 100/300 coverage with a $250 deductable and both me and the wifey (Mrs. Speed Racer here has 2 speeding tickets) both on the policy.

who?

I'd like to stick to a national brand... we don't have farms here. lol

i assumed mine was some branch of some other company, but i wouldnt be surprised if it was a mom & pop company, considering everything else around here is.

If you wanted to consider statefarm my mom is a agent I can send all your information to her and have her run a quote for you.. if your interested that is.

Have heard statefarm is pretty pricy though.

i use Geico and ive had no problems with them at all. ive been with them for a little over 3 years now. i pay $109.20 a month on 2 vehicles....my 1995 Ford Ranger Splash (which is considered the sport model for the Ranger) thats paid for and my 2004 Mazda3 S which i make car payments on. no problems at all and the people at Geico ive dealt with have been pretty helpful.

have you filed any claims with them though?

I had Geico when i was still in RI...I switched from Progressive when I got the Z (they wanted close to $2k/year, Geico came up at like $1200/year)

Never any issues with them...automatic withdrawal, easy to switch out a vehicle (I also have multiple registrations)

-but I never had to file a claim with them either, so I can't say anything about that end of it

yeah i had to file a claim with Geico. they were pretty quick to get my car fixed (2001 Ford Focus ZX3...got rid of it after i t was fixed).

oh and i got a $500 deductible

I use state farm for all of my various insurance needs.. Cars, Motorcycle, Life, Home, etc.. And I've always been giggle happy with them. Our roof was damaged in a hail storm one year, and a guy showed up, did an estimate, and cut a check on the spot. No bullshit anywhere. They came to us and paid up immediately. And our agent is the best business man I have ever met. Of course, I can't promise you the same.

Well I'm going to echo phyregod, I have all my insurance (including car, homeowners, disability and life) through State Farm. I've been nothing but happy with them, I've yet to ever have to file a claim but I have also talked to my agent 4 times in the past two months about non-business stuff, so I wouldn't foresee a problem with a claim myself. (I've also been with this company since I was 16 so that helps).

I had a problem with my progresssive the last 2 times that my bmw was broken into and this month my monthly payment went up an extra hundred bucks. Im paying almost 600/mo with 250 deducts, pretty pricey but Ive got quite a few tickets on my record.
I actually called them to make a claim this afternoon from Friday night/
Saturday morning.

Some Tyrese/Seal looking idiot in a TSX pulled out in front of me on a two way street that was only 30mph and I locked up the brakes and hit his passenger door going maybe 20mph max. Thank god I wasnt going fast enough to set off the air bags but it did rip my front bumper off. Im not sure if he was intoxicated or not but the ghetto 911 disbatcher bitch said that if I didnt need a tow truck or an ambulance they weren't going to send out an officer. Made no sense to me but apparently thats how DPD rolls. Either way there are witnesses and the valet compaany in front of the place he was trying to fly into saw. So hopefully this should be a stress free ordeal, the insurance lady was really nice and helpful and I will be talking to the claims adjuster tomorrow. We shall see how compliant they are going to be this go round and if not, Im sure that I will be coming back to this thread for a reference.

I too heard that State Farm was a pretty good insurance company to have. I may need to start shopping around for better quotes.

I use geico. I pay my premium at once. They are the cheapest for me.
