MILLERMATIC 211 W/SG & CART MIG WELDER PKG 907422011 - eBay (item 390030046369 end time Mar-09-09 04:51:25 PDT)

This is going to be a fun year.... :D:ph34r:

I have a nice set fo 18v Cordless Ryobi power tools, I can;t seem to find the Cordless Ryobi Buffer anywhere!!!!!!!!!!

are you going to use those tools to complete a project?

Ryobi..... Dewalt? :puke:

At least you made up for it with a very nice millermatic.

Home depot didn't have a ryobi cutoff saw, but they had the dewalt saw, used for clearance for $75 off the $200 price....so $124 for a piece of crap saw that works..... I'll upgrade later if it breaks.

When did Dewalt become junk, thats all i see construction guys and carpenters use?

since my makita power screw gun has lasted for 10 years, and the dewalt screw gun lost it's reverse switch after only 1 year. I went out and bought another Makita 4 years ago...and it lasted 3 years before I dropped it 20 ft. Sadly the 10 year old makita screw gun is still being used...with the batteries from the 3 year old screw gun.

all of the above, but first on the priorities would be to get the crx on the road with the B20B. Then build a rotisserie for the Z's, then the deck, but the main part would be to weld in a cage on the Z....I got quoted $2500 to weld in my $500 10 point S&W cage that I already have...into my Z, and I found out that my other buddy paid the same guy to fab up a cage for his car from the same quoter...with a cage that he did not have...

So it turned out that I was going to ripped off by about $2500 for a $500 job, and still not be SCCA legal..so the price in the tools was about half than enough to get the job done...plus maybe have a standby temp job if my company goes under(which will never happen...but 11,600 getting layed off put's me at risk...:() ...and my buddy that lives 3 houses down is a pro welder, and he's going to instruct me.

One day with the welder, I can already do a decent weld on a simple butt-joint on an exhaust pipe.....the more I weld, the better I get. I can't wait to get the gas for the mig.

Interesting. I always thought DeWalt was good stuff. I've got an 18 volt DeWalt drill and it hasn't failed me yet. It gave me a black eye once though when I was trying to remove a stubborn screw and I didn't hold it firmly enough... :(

even where I work, we have more makita's than dewalts.

from working on aircraft for so long, and always using a screw gun everyday...the makita's outlast the dewalts...dewalts outlast craftsman, and the craftsmans outlast's ...well...nothing..because thats all we have.

i have a makita drill that i would highly recommend
only problem with it was the plastic gears in the drive assembly
common problem, cost 60? bucks to get a new assembly
love the drill
we have a dewalt in the shop that has taken a lot of abuse and it keeps ticking
started to smell a little funny after drilling out 4 firewalls worth of pinch welds, plus countless sheet rock work

I installed cabinetry for summers during and after highschool and we always used panasonic, bosch or Milwaukee drills because they outlasted and out performed dewalt and the others.

I'm not a fan of either brands. Dewalt went in the shitter the minute Black and Decker started rebranding them in in 1994, and outsourced their production to china. Ryobi, is well cheap. You get value I guess, but it doesn't last and is made of cheap plastics, with cheap parts. Its surprising they're out of Japan.

Like you said about makita, you get what you pay for. They're 2x as much, but they're going to last 10x as long and deliver the feel of much higher quality. With tools, you get what you pay for.

When I worked for a huge electrical company we used dewalt. Not because they were cheaper but because we got an allowance for tools every year and we needed to make sure the tools were almost dead by the next year so we could get new ones and dewalt fit the bill.
