are they banning electronics also? I know that there is lead free solder, but I'm not sure if it's mandatory to use.
 
The lead scare is so overblown, and this is another example. My grandfather talks about how they would play with mercury, another "deadly" heavy metal, with their hands at school. Guess what he's 83 years old and still ticking.
 
this all came about from fucking china shipping toys to the US with lead in them
the kind of toys kids would put in their mouth
and lead has some horrible side effects, and also fucks up unborn children

Ingesting mercury/lead is much a different story than playing with it in your hands.
 
Lame. I'm glad we've got a humongous blanket waiver for lead solder in our operations. We'll never go lead free. :)
 
government will never go lead free, too many issues with wiskers in electronics.
 
The worst part is if say you have a CRF 50 (kids bike) you cant even buy OEM replacement parts for it.
