Is it worth the trouble to swap a K20A3 (Base model RSX) into an EG civic?
 
isnt there a thread just like this one.. explaining that the amount of money it would cost to drop that in is ridiculous .. that motor is weak.. totally not worth it
 
Isn't the A3's Ecu just detuned quite a bit? wouldn't more aggresive cams and ECU make that weaker motor more like the K20A2? or am I way off here?
 
I know this is super old post but I searched before i asked like a good noob should and all threads regarding this swap are old. So heres a good thread as any to ask in.

Given that I am now seeing this engine selling in the high hundreds with complete swaps going for around $1.5-1.8k , would now be a good time to take another look at this engine again? With the big boy K still going in the $5k+ region this could be a real inexpensive way to put a modern engine with less then 8 years on it into a 17 year old car (92 sedan)?
 
well, its still gonna cost out the ass to put it in no matter what k you go with. so you might ass well save and get at least a k20a2 look around you can find them cheap sometimes, trust me if you dont go big the first time you will regret it

This thread is so old I forgot I posted it :)

If you must have a K and don't want to pay for a K20a, K20a2 or K24a2 (TSX) and plan to go with the cheaper "intake cam only" VTEC engines then at least go with a K24a1 (CRV) or K24a4 (Accord) engines b/c they have similar heads to the A3, but atleast you get the extra displacement.

BTW, AHHVTEC is right, its gonna cost you alot to get it in there no matter what K you with.
