hi huys I was planning on getting an ls swap on a civic eg hatch then boosting it, the thing is... I wanted to do an alternative oil source for the turbo, is that possible? coz I dont wanna tap into my oil pan its just not gonna happen... I was thinking of maybe a steel box or something like that full of oil and just put the lines rite there, Im just a big nub when it comes to turbo so please try to explain slowly haha like if I am retarded

just tap the pan. Is it possible, probably, but if it was such a great thing everyone would be doing.

hmm but i basically dont want to fk my oil pan up and dont have the time to do it too im a busy man u know.

the thing is... does the oil pan has any advantage? i mean its just basically a pan full of oil, so an alternative would be basically the same or better because I could change my turbo oil without having to change my engine oil too and not to mention my oil lines would be at a better place

it would take more time to do it they way your talking about

hmmm why? I just have to find something in which to hold the oil and tap it, I could even weld it myself and just put it somewere close to where the old air intake box was weld it or bolt it there basically something like the windshield wiper fluid reservoir.

th other way u ahve to deal with removing the oil pan u know to me its just not worth it then if u deceide to have n/a have to put another oil pan coz the old one is fked up si that means more $$

the oil from the oil pan is under pressure witch you need

So your going to weld up a box fab some sort of pump to pump oil through the turbo? It takes <15 minutes to pull the oil pan and weld a bung in it, then if you want to take the turbo off for what ever reason, grind the bung off and weld it shut. Your idea is flat out retarded, not to be a dick, but its going to be a huge PITA.

hmm what about using gravity, and what about the turbo doesnt it suck oil? or it depends completely from the oil pressure? what kind of pressure might be needed to get oil to the turbo?

well it takes u 15 minutes, and I tought of this just for a reason I want to have something original lol and find an alternative other than making a hole in my oil pan, even if i can weld it shut later, I still dont like the idea of doing so man. thats whats holding me up from the turbo idea Ive never done that bfore and im scared to death when it comes to tampering with engine intenals.

what "engine internals", its an oil pan. If you don't want to weld you can always use some jb weld with the bulkhead fitting? Basically if you're scared of messing something up or getting dirty, turbo is not for you.

just buy an oil pan spacer and be done with it.

Geez trying to do so much work for such a little issue.

BTW the 350Z oil return goes into the engine block, you drill the side of the engine block out.... I bought a spacer.

Also if you're worried about messing with the engine way are you turboing? its just going to blow up in time unless you're planing on making no power.

I hope you're joking about having something original. You do realize you're working on a Honda, right? Everything has already been done a million times over. You will not have an original setup.

Best part is 99% of people looking at your car wont even know what you're talking about, the 1% that understands it will ask. why'd you do that?

lol

u can weld up a box of some sort, but your afraid to weld in a bung? wtf?

it's not as hard as u think to tap the pan, if u go n/a just plug it with a bolt, now if your goal is to do something diffrent than by all means go for it!!!!!! and good luck!

yep, gravity feed is not an option because you would also need flow along with a way to get it back up there. and a separate pumping system.

thread should have just ended here. Spend money and buy an oil sump kit if you want to waste money. But its going to take more time. If time is a concern you should not be doing a turbo setup especially on one of the least time consuming parts.

/

well dude i mean its not the box im afraid of fking up u know, if i dont weld it well then i can throw it away but if i fk my oil pan then thats a nono.
buy an oil pan from someone that has already done it or pay someone to do it. it will be cheaper and less complex
