i have had a mini me swap for about a month now. i'm getting code 43 since everything was done, which is the code for "fuel supply system problem". i'm using my stock a6 block with a y8 head. i'm converted to obd1 and am using a virgin p28. i also have a rough idle most of the time, it's hunting from around 1100rpm to 1400rpm. it's not the iacv, because i've tried 3 known perfect iacv's and i still have the same issue. i've read that the differences between the p28 and the y8 ecu(p2p) is that the fuel maps are completely different, making my motor run rich at idle and lean during vtec. is this the reason for both of my issues? code 43 and my surging idle? thanks a lot

other than the idle does the car run out good

i installed a b&m fuel pressure regulator and checked it out on my lunch break. i'm getting 36psi at idle and 40psi at wot. both are obviously way too low. i'm thinking it's because of the fuel maps, since i'm using a p28 ecu on a y8 head. i was reading that i should be using the y8 basemap. my buddy is burning my chip so i should be able to throw it in soon. will this fix my fuel pressure issue?

let me hear what you guys have to say. i could really use the help. thanks a lot

the map isnt what does the fuel pressure...is the b&m adjustable????
sounds like your actual pump is failing...time to go walbro

no i was saying i put on a fuel pressure gauge, so no it's not adjustable lol. i have a blox adjustable fpr unit but i need to cut the y8 fpr in order to install it, but i'll be doing that when i get home from work. hopefully it's not the fuel pump, i don't have the funds to be doing that right now. anything else it could be? i know i need to be running the y8 map because it's completely different than the z6 map of the p28

i put in another p28 and am still getting code 43. but now, the idle isn't surging, but it idles at 1500rpm. if i tap the gas the the rpm's drop down to where the idle should be then jump right back up and stay up. let me know what you guys think please. thanks again

---the injectors on the z6 and the y8 have a different ohm rating, if you're using the p28 ecu to signal the y8 head, you will run into problems. get that ecu re-mapped, or use the p2p. also, the p2p ecu is obd2, p28 ecu is obd1. If you haven't already made the obd2-obd1 conversion, you'll want to get the wire harness to switch it. going from obd2-obd1 is simple plug and play---
in my experience, fuel pumps don't 'kind of work', they work or they don't.
