awptickes unimpressed by you VIP Apr 20, 2009 #2 Try these: Hook up an oil pressure gauge and tell us what the pressure reads New oil filter heavier weight oil (just go one step up) Did he remove the oil jet from the block? How new is the oil pump? Is the screen on the oil pump pickup clean?

H Hondatrix Mr Honda Apr 20, 2009 #3 Thanks, the pump is new, screen was cleaned. I will tell him to change the oil filter and oil.
H Hondatrix Mr Honda Apr 21, 2009 #5 Yes he did, it's on his work bench....(-: Car made good power at 8000 rpm , once, then lost VTEC at 6500. Strange one, never had it before.

awptickes unimpressed by you VIP Apr 21, 2009 #6 How's the oil pressure sender? What about the filtering material on the vtec solenoid?
H Hondatrix Mr Honda Apr 21, 2009 #7 OP sender is new, and re-checked ..the solenoid might be the culprit. Thanks
awptickes unimpressed by you VIP Apr 21, 2009 #8 Bench test the solenoid before you replace it. Also, check to ensure that the ECU is powering the solenoid at the proper point. It could be a burned out ECU component.
