93 accord

New Member
I have a 93 Accord I just picked up for $200 and I was wondering what I have to do to make it standard and what motor I can bolt rite in with just the CPU and harness. Will I have to change the axles? This is my first project and I am on a tight budget but I have a great hookup with motors and such.

Any F-series or H-series engine (except for the S2000 motors) will bolt right in. If you want to keep the wiring simple then use an OBD1 motor. To convert to manual, you just need all the parts (tranny, pedals, all the plumbing, shift linkage, shifter, etc.)...

Is an h23 obd1? Is just changing a wiring harness to support the new motor and computer. What would be somethind that would give me a small amount of cick and be in the obd1 range and keep me satisified so I can do the body work which is cheeper and I can save up to put a monster in this.

There are OBD1 and OBD2 versions of a lot of different engines. It goes by year. 92-95 (generally) is OBD1, and 96+ is OBD2. So you'd want a motor from 92-95 Prelude for the easiest swap...

So if I get the 92-95 H 22 will I have to cut anything accept the trans mount to convert it to manual? Will the H 22 motor bolt to the F 22 A auto trans for now till I get the money to do the trans? Will a 92 to 95 Prelude have a cable or hydraulic for the manual trans? Is it true that the H 23 head fits in the F 22 B? Thank you for answering all my questions.

Ok, I purchased the H22 out of a 94 prelude that was roled and smashed from the back. The motor seams to be in good condition. I am going to tare it down and put all new gaskets and see how much the head will cost me to port and polish the head. I will also wait to see if I can get a standard trani to do the conversion. I want to know what I can do to convert the rear brakes to disc. I couldn't find any in the junk yard and besides I am thinking on just going with some nice big brakes. I searched and not too many companies make conversion brakes for this car. It's mostly the civic. I am looking at a T3 turbo too but that is going to have to wait cause I aint got the cash rite at this moment. Any way can some one point me in the rite direction with the brakes. Also I did take the ECU out of the prelude but it had no harness. Someone must have gotten to it and left the ECU. "weird" Can I use the harness from the F22 a and just wire in the Vtec?

For the brakes just keep looking for a junked Prelude that has them. That's what you'll want to use. Accord brakes may work too, but don't quote me on that. As for the ECU, you probably can just use the original Accord computer and hook up VTEC to a switch, but that's very old school and not ideal. I'd use the appropriate ECU...

What year Prelude? Will they bolt rite up to my Accord? I think the prelude I got the H22 from has disc brakes in the back and I think they are still on the car.

You want brakes from a 92-96 Prelude. If that car has rear discs then that would be ideal for you. You need to get everything, the entire rear hub assemblies, the lines, master cylinder, etc...

or he could take the brakes off a accord as well cause my accord has rear disc brakes idk if it was depending on the model in which you have cause mine is a 92 ex?

Yes, 90-97 Accord brakes may work as well. I think the Prelude's discs are larger though...

yeah i do believe the prelude ones would be a bit bigger maybe close to the coupe accord. im not too sure on that though i owned one for a little while but never had to change the brakes. and he would have to get the calipers and everything else from the rear as you have stated brutal.

Can I do a 5 lug conversion as well? Does the prelude have a 5 lug set up?

The 97-01 generation did use a five lug, so you may be able to use those parts. That means finding yet another car to rip parts from though...

I just picked up a mig welder and i am going to the junk yard this weekend. I'm gonna look for the 99 to 01 for the 5 lug conversion. If I have to weld at least I can now. I am also going to look for a manual trans. I think I have to change the mount for it. I am also going to change the rear brakes this weekend. I will let you know exactly what I get and hopefully I can help someone out with what I have to do.

The mount changing part s correct, and if you can you need to cut off the bracket that is welded to the car's fenderwell, the part that actually holds the mount. The manual brackets have a hole about 3/4 higher than the auto brackets had, so if you leave your stock bracket on there you are liable to end up breaking axles every couple of weeks

I am going to send out the head out on Tuesday from the H22A motor I have and I am planing on doing bottom end work on the block as well. In the mean time I have someone in Perth Amboy who will sell me an OBD1 F22B2 motor. Will I be able to just bolt this to my F22A auto trans and wiring harness and just run it for about 5 months. It will take me about that long to get up the doe for the head and pistons and rods and block sleeves to get it ready for turbo. This is going to cost me more than I thought but I feel it is going to be worth every penny, minute and day.
