hey guys, iam like new to the game and i have a 90 civic hatch with a dx motor so i bought a d15b sohc vtec, and took it to a mechanic. he tells me that i need to convert the distrubutor plug? (if i do need one where could i find one). i thought that everything should be a plug and play?? and then he tells me to get an obd1 jumper to an obd2??? while iam thinking i have an obd0?? well guy holla at me man... iam clueless now anything will help

Your mech is a douche. You have a DX, then a MPFI swap has to be done first, then the engine swap. After that you can use your MPFI distributor on the D15b and just have to run a few wires for vtec. Convert to OBD1 or run a OBD0 pr3 with a fuel pressure regulator to lean back the fuel some.

Yeah your 90 is OBD0 BTW...he sounds like a douche to me....

he says that, he can wire it to make it mpfi, so i dont know whats going on anymore... and hell i dont even know what ecu i got. do they have an ecu p91???

Use a p08 or p28 ecu. Also, you'll need an obd1 distributor...

you will need the mpfi conversion done first before u can even do ANYTHING with your car, then if u want vtec connected the right way u need a obd0 to obd1 jumper harness and a obd1 distributor.
Cut the plugs from an 88-91 si dizzy and the harness and put those plugs on the obd1 dizzy
use p28 ecu with snap onto your jumper harness.
depending on what obd that motor is u might need your old alternator because plugs withh me diferent.

oh and when u do the mpfi swap get all your wires extended so u can do a mini wire tuck JMO

You dont have to convert to Obd1 to run a Sohc vtec in a 88-91 civic. Most do it if theyer polanning on tuning their engine. Its not a must have, must do.

i have this same motor in my 90 si hatch.... im using obd1 p28 ecu and obd1 dizzy. im pretty sure the obd0 dizzy is not gonna bolt to an obd1 head. there is a diff between the 2

The only OBD0 ECU that can control VTEC is the B16 ECU; so you would have to tune it either way. Best to convert to OBD1 and run a similar ECU(P28) or the correct one(P08); plus it's easier to convert those to the correct maps anyway by chipping.

The JDM D15B VTEC comes with a OBD1 distributor.

thanks guys, yea this guys is charging me 500 bucks cuz he says" hes a pro at swaping" well guys what could i do now, i dont know how he did that mpfi conversion and i dont know where to start looking for parts shoo if only i had the ecu here i could post up a pic of it and really see what type of ecu is it...

the ecu will have a sticker with the code number on it. near the pins where the plugs go in

Sup everyone. Im not trying to Thread Jack here but i just joined and I can not post a Thread of my own. So first question is why (i think i have to post a few replies in order to activate this feature)? Next question if someone would not mind answering is what is the best place to get my ECU chipped. I have a P28 that I want to use with my JDM D15B swap. from what i read it seems i would be fine with just the P28 but might run rich. If there is a good place out there that anyone knows of please let me know. I am not trying to Race this car I just want the car to get the best MPG that it can and also have a little extra hp so i can still play with the local ricers. Im a noob here and any help would be greatly appreciated.
