I have a 95 ex coupe d16z6, manual tranny.

1. I just swaped in a set of gr2s, & Tein S tecks, but I occasionally get a rattle from the right side. ( both front & rear ). Every thing is torqued to speck, any ideas what I may have missed?

2. Is their a speed govener on a d16z6? It pulls to about 118 @ about 4400 rpm then just stops accelerating. The Vtec doesn't kick in in 5th gear. Is this normal?
 
i got my 94 civic ex with d16z6 engine to do 125mph no problem, it is stock, and i belive vtec kicked in not for sure.

I was just surprised it stopped at 118 because it got there easily. Really thought it was odd the V-tech didn't kick in.
 
Whats the gearing?? thats only 2200 odd at 60mph, are you running 18" wheels or something, the gearing is all wrong or your guages are out, it should be able to pull 5-6000 rpm in 5th if it has the proper gearing, although the speed is close to the mark the tacho is way out.
 
To my knowledge the car was bone stock when I bought it, so it should be the typical ex tranny. In 1-4 power starts dropping off about 6000, & the rev limiter is around 6500. (only hit it once). I'm running 15'' Konig Minuz wheels & 195/50/15 Kumhos.

Sounds like your tacho is out, it should pull to 7000 odd and rev limiter would be probably around 7200, the speed you are getting sounds right, get your tacho tested.You probably just dont feel the vtec kick in because its under such high load at that speed theres no power surge you notice in lower gears.

Thought it had like 127 ???? and no it stopping at 118mph? wtf? I have a vid of my 95 ex doing 125 and it had plenty left to give... intresting
 
i had my del sol to 144 and it still had some left.

well i do redline at 7200... and weigh a little less but still.........
 
Thats 240kmh!! which cliff did you push it over, the grand canyon. Make sure you have your hand on the right stick, its the one with the numbers 1 to 5 on it.
 
i was on the highway going home from work at like 2:30 in the morning and saw a police speedo thing and decided to just drop it and go...

i was in fifth at about 6000-6200, wasnt really paying attention to that, and the sign was blinking red 144 and i started to slow down.

my car has no carpet and nothing in the trunk. and i have a fully headerback custom exhaust, cia, and a slight tune by one of my buddies at my local tuner shop.
oh and a stage 2 ACT clutch kit. pressure plate/flywheel/clutch

I'd be willing to bet that the weight of a Del Sol is similiar to, if not more then, a 92-95 Civic coupe...

Yes noob, I know where the FAQ section is. I've looked at it many times myself, and that's why I can say off the top of my head that the weight of those two cars is going to be similar...
 
i dont have carpet or passenger side air conditioning stuff in my car. and my trunk is 100% empty. well except the brackets thats supposed to hold the roof holder.

Whoa there dude, I was in NO way saying search the forums, I just put that up so it could be proven in this post...I could see the confusion with "check for yourself" but wasn't saying like that.
