Hey people hows it going. I'm new to hondaswap and new to hondas pretty much, only been into it about 2 months now. Well i bought a 1990 hatchback dx about 2 months ago and it came with the d15b2 obviously, well i bought it to be a project car, but it's also my dd from san diego to rancho every day for school!! but anyways i had really low comp. in 1 cylinder and it was burning oil (rings) so i really didn't want to keep driving it like that so i found a d15b6 out of a 91 crx with the tranny and computer and all that good stuff and i just finished that swap 2 days ago, well i know the b6 has only 8 valves and my b2 has 16 valves and i was wondering if i could put my b2 head on the b6 block like will all the coolant ports and everything match up along with the head gasket. I'm wondering cuz i put a lower horspower engine in a heavier car (stupid i know) but i picked this engine up for 300 and it runs really good, just lost a lot of power, running pretty rich, and my exhaust isn't as loud as it used to be. I appreciate any help, thanks. also i'm running the b2 computer and distributor, should i be running the b6 comp and distributor.

Everything would line up but the pistons probably will not work. The HF pistons have 2 valve reliefs and the DX have 4.

If you want to improve the DX engine for cheap; rebuild it(fix the rings), do MPFI conversion, swap in D16A6 cam and ECU with 96-00 D-series cam gear, 99-00 D16Y8 header. If you want to go a little further, you can drop in PG6B or P29/PM7 pistons along with milling the head a little bit to bring up compression but you'd want a tune also.

Of course, do all of that while the HF engine is in the car. That way you'll minimize down-time.

Thanks ya that sounds pretty good so with those mods ill have a ptetty decent d15. I got a quote from an engine remanufacturing place near me that will rebuild the entire engine including bearings machining and honing basically a brand new engine for $1300. And I can just have them do those pistons and the head. Should I get the head ported and polished.

You can since you will have the head off anyways; but that's entirely up to you. IMO, you won't see much gains with a ported head unless you have a aftermarket cam and intake manifold to compliment it.

For $1300, you can get a used JDM motor. They're usually around 40,000miles and cost much less(usually around $500-$600 for a longblock). If you're set on rebuilding it; might as well have them swap in the pistons though since that's more time consuming than taking off the head. Also, I'm assuming that $1300 includes new oil pump, water pump, and timing belt/tensioner?

With $1300 you can most likely have a JDM D15B VTEC swapped in there. Parts i hear are kind of hard to find on these, but man are they great motors i here. Try a search on these.
