Well, here she is. 1991 CRX DX, gutted, ZC swapped, suspension techniques coil overs with Tokico blues. No idea why he did that. Konig Countersteer wheels with BFG z rated rubber of some sort. Clutchmasters statge 2 clutch and a full stainless exhaust.. Not sure what brand, but its a header back mandrel bent system that sounds pretty nice. I might just keep it. ZC has "turbo cams", 3 angle valve job, ported and polished head, and a copper head gasket. According to that guy, I can boost it to 12psi and do 10,000 rpm now. What a fucktard.. Bottom end is stock. Glad he never actually tried it.

Car also came with a b18a1 and trans that supposedly has 90k on it..

Body is incredible. All original, never smacked or wrecked.. Sitting in factory frost white paint (that needs some serious elbow grease). Hood has a pretty good dent, corner of the rear bumper is dented in a little. Other than that and several little paint chips, the body is in great shape. No hail damage even.

B18 swapped elemet with custom mounts!



The car runs like ass right now.. Motor is a dog. Not sure whats up, I haven't had a chance to really dig at it. I'm wondering what "turbo" cams would do to a NA motor.. Probably has something to do with it. I paid way too much freaking money for it and am too ashamed to actually post the amount. It was too damn much.

Anyway.. The pin stripes are gone, all stickers are gone, and I sanded a good chunk of the body out with 2000 grit today.. That removed a crap ton of little blemishes. Will continute tomorrow. Its already looking better. Now all I have to do is figure out what the hell I am going to do with it.

That thing is clean, well aside from the inside being completely stripped. Are you going to source some stock parts or fab some stuff up?
 
I'm on the fence. This vehicle is going to be a pure driving machine. I have the decked out automatic / power everything pair of SUVs to massage my ass and drive me where I want to go while I'm half asleep. This thing is meant to be driven. To get my kicks in the twisties.. To be all that the SUVs are not.

I'm thinking of sourcing parts car and swapping in an Si interior. Another thought is to leave it gutted, cage it up, slap an aluminum dash and console and some RSX seats in it and call the interior done.

Whats great about it is I have no time line. This isn't a daily driver. There is no completion date or plan for that matter. Just going to play it by ear.

For now, I'm going to fix all the little shit thats wrong with it. Unhack the wiring, Clean it up, buff it out, get it running like a top, then go from there. Hell, I might slap the LS in there and tool around in it for a year before I figure out what my plan is.

I have pretty big plans in the motor department.. Going to do more research there. Certainly going to throw some disk brakes on the rear. Will probably be my first real mod.
 
The shell is clean, the engine bay should clean right up with some Simple Green, just the interior, ti needs some work.
 
My vote is for a stock dash, door panels, and strip everything else, maybe throw some carpet in there? :shrug2:

Motor department: What are your ideas here? Forced induction, Naturally aspirated?

That looks like a pretty decent little car, no visible rust at least.. Nice find. Good luck with the build :thumbsup: always good to have time on your side
 
Very nice pickup. I can believe there is really no interior. Did you piece the interior out or just not like it?
 
It used to be boosted, the motor got ragged on HARD and that's why it runs like shit. Do a compression test before you go any further. A rebuild may be necessary. Why do you think he had that B18 "just laying around"?
 
cant wait to see the interior in there phyre. You should try to custom fit another dash in there for fun. find some DC or rsx dash to mold in there. pimp it out since it looks like shit anyway.:lol:

I don't think this guy had the brains to get a turbo going. Compression test reads 180 across the board. The wiring is totally fucked every which way. As is the entire vacuum system. He cut wires to sensors and ran them to random ass locations, who the hell knows why.

Swapped the turbo cams for normal ZC cams, changed the plugs for some NGKs, Adjusted valve lash to perfection, timed it (it was way off), reset the idle, re-routed the vacuum hoses correctly..

And it still runs like ass. But there are a million wires to chase down.. he has shit cut all over the damn place. And the "relocated battery" has a really shitty ground.. All that will be fixed in good time.

Its also running super rich. I mean turn spark plugs flat black with three minutes of idling rich. No smoke in the exhaust by some miracle.



PS: I am looking for a 90-91 Si parts car. Wrecked to holy shit with a blown motor is fine, I need a shit load of little bits and pieces as well as some bigger stuff.

rear hatch latch mechanism and striker
rear disk / trailing arm swap
complete steering wheel and horn assembly
gauge cluster

Lots of other little misc. shit.

Buy a harness out of a junkyard and make sure the ECU is stock. I still contend that it was boosted and the terrible tune is making it run rich. Either that or it's running DSM 440's on a stock ECU. Or it has an FMU that you didn't notice :)
