Yea that's right. Neg rep me all you want but im not talking about the big wig bastards that ran this company into the ground. Im talking purely of the brand. Say what you want but they were finally putting out some nice cars again. I don't know if anybody on here has the balls to admit it but the Solstice GXP, G6 GXP, and above all the G8 GT were well performing cars that also looked good as far as im concerned at a reasonable price. I know everyone complains about cheap interiors but seriously you're getting Euro performance or better for half the price. A long standing tradition icon or whatever you want to call a fixture in the American automotive history for 6 decades is now dead. When the government wages war against big business seeking out an example to be made (although admittedly a good one) its the enthusiast that suffers. So a hearty F you to the assholes who raped the general population, auto workers, and faithful followers and left us with no direction or way to turn this around. Next up: Saturn, Saab, and Hummer (not too sad except for the Sky Redline.)Ok, proceed with the shit storm of hate!

first it was olds now its pontiac the only place the domestics are selling cars is over seas
why would you by a domestic any how not knowing if they will be there tomorrow
a lot of the problem is from the government allowing/forcing banks to give loans that the average person could never repay along with credit cards that have super high interest rates we live in time where people live bigger than they can afford using credit cards to make there payments on the $300,000 home, hummer and the Cadillac on a burger king budget

Yea, thats kind of a long the lines of what I was saying. The system was rediculously flawed and unchecked. And now enthusiasts are getting boned because they are (somewhat) patiently waiting until they can afford some action. Only to have the rug ripped right out from under them by a bunch of fucks who make bad decisions and a government so eager to show that they "get it" and are making a "change" way after any positive affect is any but feasible.

its not just american cars. mitsubishi north america is feeling the same fate. i dont see many dealerships lasting another 5 years.

Ya, its too bad. The G8 GT is a nice car that was on my top 10 list, but now I dont think thatll happen.

As far as "cheap build quality" goes for GM, thats an easy accusation for someone who hasnt been in one since 1980 to toss around.

good riddance. take GMC with you

Hummer, saab, and a couple others are for sale... they don't want to drop the names, but give it to someone else.

Funny that you should mention "euro performance". Really, wasn't Pontiac dead already? Their most popular model as of late, the G8, isn't even an American car. It's just a rebadged Holden. Same with the GTO from a few years back. And what else have they got right now? Absolutely nothing original besides maybe the G6. The G3, G5, Solstice, and Torrent are all just rebadged products already available in other GM divisions. In terms of actually coming up with anything original, Pontiac has already been dead for years. Now they're just making it official...

Holden is a subsidiary GM. The GTO's design stemed from the Cadillac Cattera. GM re-badged and tested it in Australia, then brought it to the states. The G8 is modeled after the VT commodore, which was designed by Daewoo of South Korea. GM owns ~45% of Daewoo South Korea.

About damn time.

And even if you don't like domestic manufacturers, you are certainly buying a whole bunch of GM and Chrysler cars with the tax dollars your president is throwing away.

They should liquidate all the remaining Pontiacs by giving them out to taxpayers.

GMC? Useless.

Honestly, I would like to see Buick dropped as well. Why do you need 4 umbrella brands. Chevy, Cadillac, and if they were smart, they'd keep Saturn as an economy car brand.

I read somewhere about Buick being a top seller in Asia. Thatd be pretty dumb to drop it.

If they did a retro look with the GTO, like the Challenger or Mustang, I think it could have kept them afloat a little while longer. Also the car wouldn't have looked like every other car they made in the past 10 years.

buick, cadalc, chevy.

the only 3 brands GM needs.

Pontiac sucked. It's always been a chevy decorated with non-functional hood scoops and tacky body side moldings. I'm over it.
