I bought a 89 EF hatch had LS-VTEC swap. Motor blew up on way home.I bought a B16 5mil series block, took off my b16 PR3-3 head (cast in 99) and went to take out plug need for ls-v swap and there was no plug or hole. Where and how does the oil get to V-TEC solenoid without using ls-v oil line?.
check out pics of head.
in pics the oil gally should be in lower left next to dowel hole.

Its either Drilled in the back but on the b16 vtec blocks you dont need to tap it. Also golden eagle sells kits so you dont have to tap it.

Thanks for the reply
I dont need to tap the bolck you normally have to tap and plug the head in the original oil galley that supply's the V-TEC solenoid in order to run a oil line from the ls block to the back of the head. The only oil galleys i can see run from the V-TEC soliniod to the front and rear of head not to the matting surface of the head where i thought it should be. I still cant find a factory oil passage in the head to supply oil from block to V-TEC solinoid :confused::confused::confused:

Should i just put it on and see if it works?
it should through a V-TEC code if its not right?

wait wait wait.....are you still tryin to use the external oil line on an engine with both a vtec head aaand block? if the head is for a b16...aaand the block is a b16....you dont need to run oil lines. theres already a passage in the head and ther should be the lil oil orifice in the block with an o ring my friend

i am very aware that i dont need to run external oil line (not my first build) but if u look at the pics u can see the the oil passage is not in the location it should be. and ill post till i get an answer because i cannot see the oil passage so please check out the pics and show me my stupidity. compare my pics to any b16 v-tec head pics and u will see that the oil passage they show is not shown on my head (at least on the v-tec solinoid side of head)
Please give me the benefit of the dought untill u can show me my error

oh yeah there is an oil passage (not that lil) but it does not match any oil passage in head.
and yes it is a B16a block and a 99 b16 PR3-3 head

from comparing the pics you have supplied..i see no missing oil passage. both look as a b16 should...

you know, the old owner may have welded up the oil feed and resurfaced the head. it's not entirely uncommon, and actually i read somewhere from a reputable builder (i believe endyn) that they install the external oil feed line on ALL their built motors, as the factory feed doesn't flow enough oil to keep the cams from wearing. they say the external feed reduces wear by a lot.

I was doing so research and talkin to the guy that originally built the ls-v they told me i need to drill it out (which i don't want to do) so i will try the link u sent me and plan on running external oil line.
