installing an oil pump

just wondering what is best to use to mate the oil pump to the block? hondabond? RTV? what have people used and what works?

I use the red stuff and go 9lbs/ft on the small bolts....Two step that, means do them twice, anymore than 9 and theyll strip the block.

I saw a video on the installation of the pump. The motor was a built (going for 800+hp) and he said the crank sits slightly different ( I believe higher) with the built motor and he used a specific sized feeler gauges to ensure the clearance was the same around the main opening (sorry I don't know the tech jargon)

Just thought I'd shoot that out there if you built your motor and pistons/rods/crank have been somewhat modified past stock

Its on you tube. I believe the build is three parts and he blueprints everything. Good video for those wanting to put a honda motor together. Its a GSR in the video. He also has videos on cam installation and LSD installation. Can't remember the name and I can't get on the site right now...but if you feel like it...use the search engine and you'll find it.

If the surface is going to be in contact with oil you should use black rtv or an equivalent material. toyota's fipg is an excellent product as well.

I use what Toyota uses for their oil pans, they dont use gaskets between the pan and block, its gray but I forget the name ill get it and repost it works very well.

Word. I worked at a Honda Toyota Dealership as a lube tech and we used the same stuff all the time.

i think you guys might be thinking of the stuff i mentioned above. its called fipg. my friend and i pronounce it "fippage", lol. stands for "form in place gasket" and looks like this..

I use formagasket non hardening for all my builds, its seals well but unlike all the silicon based gunk out there it wont form hard bits that blocks your oil galleries when it breaks off inside your engine, its easy to disassemble and cleans off with methylated spirits.

I was wondering if I should use a z6 oil pump in my a6, and what are the advantages?. I'm not sure if this is the right thread to be posting in, so I'm sorry if it is.
